Mic skills

How do you determine between a good promo and a bad one? How can you decide if someone has good or bad mic skills?

to me it depends on the content...i suppose
i dont really know, for the most part the only ppl who get mic time are ppl i cant stand ie Cena or Jericho

but saying that, alot of ppl thought Cena's promo with Vince about Vince being all about the money was bad...i liked it, and prefered it to a lot of his others

i guess one thing i certainly like in Mic segments are variety and not same same shit....im getting bored with the LayCool segements just as much as im sick to death of hearing Jerichos monotonous voice croak about parasites and hypocrits...the only difference is even though LayCool have the same content ie calling Mickie fat, they find some way to make me laugh mostly due to Layla or most recently with Vickie

When someone has my attention, I can say they have great mic skills (The Rock, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Kofi, Jericho, The Miz, Cody Rhodes, Swagger, Trish, Edge etc)


Guys like Lashley, Benjy and Morrison? I personally think they are ok but their voices ruin the promos and that in tuirn makes shit cringe worthy!

Pretty much. I'd personally exclude HBK from the bunch and add Punk then Edge - those are my preferences.

It's about how you say stuff. Jericho repeats himself cause he wants you to hate it. That's the point.

i think just being able to say the lines naturally like they're not being read off deserves some props. a lot of people say Ric Flair is good on the mic but he is awful, so over the top and one of the worst i've ever seen

if someone can be entertaining then that is good as well because Trish was excellent as a heel on the mic and Cena as the rapper was brilliant. McCool also seems to be a lot better when she's doing comedy rather than trying to be threatening. she was quite good at the Rumble and that backstage skit with Maria and Matt had me in stitches. Layla is definitely better but they are both entertaining now with the Mean Girls gimmick
