Edge Retires!

For those who are wondering, the Edge retirement speech was 100% legitimate and real. We were told by a company source earlier this evening that when the major announcement was made tonight, it was not an angle and not storyline.

The story that Edge told about medical tests coming back and showing there was a new issue with his neck and being advised he must retire are true. He was basically handed a mic and told to go out and say goodbye however he wanted.

Discuss this.

Would've been cool if this was a work and Christian bribed the Dr to say that so he'd be inserted in the WT match

Yeah I wish it was fake but nope looks like it is 100% legit and his last match is his WHT match at WM.

At least he went out on top at WM although it was not advertised as his last match.

Edge has never been one of my favourites but the guys been in some good matches over the years and has certainly pushed his body to the limit. I found his speech really emotional especially when he came into the back and all the guys were lined up waiting to send him off. You could tell there was genuine sadness and I though it was a nice touch having JR out there. Personally I would have liked to have seen Christian out there as well though I'm expecting a nice speech from him on SD this week.

Retired as World Champion, coming off of the back of a win at Wrestlemania. The timing was perfect, but its a shame to see him go.

It sucks how he has to leave rather than the fact that he's actually leaving.

He's an all-time great and it's been a pleasure witnessing most of his career.

I'm just glad the problem was found before it crippled him.

I cried watching this. It was rather sad to watch.

He's an amazing athlete, amazing wrestler, amazing character......and amazing person.

He will truly be missed but hey, it was an amazing ride and he is going out on top.

Good stuff to read even if it was all fucked up format wise on my other forum...

Does anyone think he will do something non physical with wwe?

Raw General Manager?

Future announcer?

I'll copy and paste what I said about this on Facebook.

I mean this isn't some old guy like Hogan or Flair retiring. Edge started his career when I was almost in middle school. I'm surprised to say the least. It feels a surreal, but if he really is injured like he said, I understand. Besides, just like The Rock before him, there's nothing left for him to prove.

But I can't believe he had to retire before I even got to lace up my first pair of boots. I'm gonna miss him. He was one of the last few people left in WWE who could still entertain me. And he wasn't some guy who said "Hey, I could make some money in this business.", jumped in and jumped out (Example: Ultimate Warrior). He was a fan since his school days. I've got a lot of respect for that. Good man.

i is sad c him go Crying or Very sad

but he has nuthin lef provs. i say lets him keep that belt & has new smakdown gold. he deserves it
