7/23 WWE Results in Pittsburgh, Pa.: Hart Enforces World Title Match, Melina/Rey/Miz On SD?

You'll sometimes see a little brand mixing at house shows. That said, there was speculation after Wrestlemania that Morrison and Melina would wind up on seperate brands because of the problems having them in the same place causes.

It wasn't Melina, it was Rosa

Yeah, some people think Rosa and Melina look alike

well it's mostly because they're both hispanic with identical skin tones and the same long black hair. whoever it was was probably sitting from a distance or else he would've been able to tell the difference since Rosa is much thinner than Melina

i really don't know what the point of having an annual draft is if they're just going to move people whenever they feel like it. Miz should stay on Raw but the others would be fine on Smackdown

The thing is, they long ago lost sight of what made the separate rosters work so well in the old days.

When they first separated the rosters in 2002 with the first Draft, all the Cruiserweights just happened to be drafted to SD. Meanwhile, the Women's Championship, then held by Jazz, was, like the WWE Championship, to be defended on both brands. But, the Lita-Trish-Molly trio was kept together on Raw the same way the members of the Kliq were, with Stacy and Torrie on SD along with Ivory with the intention of having her train the eye candy to be good wrestlers. They, and a frustrated Ivory, quickly discovered that was a lost cause and Ivory was quietly moved to Raw and the Women's Championship became exclusive to that show.

So, we wound up with the two brands having completely different identities and feels despite being the same company. When Mysterio came in, naturally he was on SD, while when Victoria and Gail were called up, they automatically went to Raw, while Dawn Marie went to SD where her old boss, Paul Heyman, was the head writer. And, it was a genuine rivalry, with everyone from the creative teams on down trying to make theirs the better show. Which show's main event would get the top spot at the PPV?

And that's what made it work so well, for a while. SD pushed it's smaller, faster, more athletic guys heavily because it was SD's exclusive thing, what they had that Raw didn't. Meanwhile, Raw pushed the Women's Division because it was that brand's exclusive thing, and the Trish-Victoria feud found itself an upper card one, a major draw, heavily promoted the way Diva feuds hadn't been done before. And, given the ball, those two rose to the occasion.
