Cruel Intentions

After hearing the rumors about Whitney Huston's daughter engagement to and now suppositly pregnant by her "Adopted" brother, it got me thinking if that is really wrong. They are not actually blood related, and they known each other for quiet some time. What do you think, Is it wrong to date your adopted sibling or even your step silbling? Dating your step brother/sister may wrong but think if the roles was reversed and your wife/husband's single mother/father started dating your single mother/father. What's is your opinion?

First of all just let me say I fucking loved Cruel Intentions, that movie was awesome. The sequels sucked though.

Now on to the subject, I think it's weird because that person was being raised as a sibling, so that's how I would always see them, so for me I would NEVER do it. Though I can see how it would work for some people, because they would be really close to the other one and that person would maybe understand them better than someone off the street, because they've basically went through the same things growing up, so they'd have a better connection and a stronger bond.

I guess in technical terms it isn't incest if they're adopted.

I've always felt this way: no matter how gross something is, if someone wants to do it then so be it - so long as others aren't hurt by it.

I don't know about that. I mean, I don't think you can control who you find attractive, but falling for someone is a controllable emotion. If someone gets the impulses of attraction, that person chooses whether or not to act on them. One chooses whether or not to 'fall for someone' or act on their emotions (I.e. 'falling in love' with someone.) I think at the end of the day, it's a matter of choice.

You're assuming one has perfect self control to be able to resist acting on his/her emotions. Some people can shut down and back off but others really can't help it.

Well those 'others' need better self-control. Otherwise, all of the south would be filled with brother/sister relationships.

Back on topic at hand, I see no issue with it. Since it isn't the first time i've heard of a situation like this and it's not like they are blood related.

You'd assume she saw him as a brother, but she didn't and the other way around. You can't make someone feel like your sibling simply because you grew up with them. However..you CAN develop love with someone who knows you better than no other.
