When TNA star Jeff Hardy was suspended from TNA following his infamous 90-second match against Sting at Victory Road in March 2011, Hardy was consuming 25-30 pain pills per day.
Hardy revealed specific details about "losing control" of his addiction, partying too much, and now starting his third year of being "drug-free" during a radio interview Thursday in Atlanta promoting the latest Impact TV tapings.
The conversation started when Hardy was asked by the "Regular Guys" radio hosts what his "drug of choice was" that got him suspended.
RG: When you were suspended, what was your drug of choice - not to bring up a negative?
Hardy: It was all pills, yeah.
RG: Pain pills?
Hardy: Yeah, pain pills.
RG: Doesn't that kind of go with it - how else do you guys --- ?
Hardy: Yeah, sure, but it's easy to lose control. And I lost control.
RG: How many pain pills were you taking a day?
Hardy: At the most? It wasn't bad, maybe 25-30.
RG: That's pretty bad. Geez.
Hardy: Real bad. It just got the worst of me. I'm two years - I'm on my third year drug-free.
RG: What started it?
Hardy: Out on the road. I'm a professional wrestler gone all the time; it just got the best of me. I started partying way too much.
Also in the interview, Hardy said he's pretty sure Rampage Jackson is the "big free agent signing" that TNA president Dixie Carter tweeted about, commented on how he met his wife, and said his most terrifying career moment was taking a spear off the tag belts from Edge during their TLC battles.
