| - The Mercury News reports that Santa Clara is a finalist to host WrestleMania in 2015 at the San Francisco 49ers' new stadium, which can hold 75,000 fans. According to the article, Philadelphia is the other competing city, and Santa Clara mayor Jamie Matthews will be flying to WWE headquarters in Connecticut next week to pitch Vince McMahon.
"It really is the wrestling world's Super Bowl," said Matthews. "[It] be something that will benefit the cities around us economically and cement our pre-eminence as a sports capital here."
