Why Did Raquel Diaz Ask For Her WWE Release? EDIT 9/10/13: She's Back [On Twitter]

Close to a year ago, we reported that Shaul “Raquel Diaz” Guerrero had requested her WWE release, which was granted. It was a little confusing at the time as there were conflicting reports about whether she had left or not, though it was confirmed by her mother Vickie in a tweet, saying “@Shaul_Guerrero asked to be released from WWE for personal reasons. Im grateful to WWE for the support & love toward my family”.

At the same time, there was some talk about Skyler Moon checking into WWE-sponsored rehab at the time – which turned out to be for an eating disorder – before being released from the company in January. As it turns out, the two developmental Divas were dealing with similar issues.

Over the last week, it has come out that Guerrero is planning to return to Florida from Houston, TX – more specifically, to Orlando, where WWE’s new and impressive Performance Center is based. The prospective date for her move is Tuesday, based on a tweet she sent a few days ago. While there has been no confirmation about whether she has signed a new WWE deal – or if she was never fully released from her original deal and it was just mothballed – but it seems that the time is right for her to resume the Raquel Diaz Exfoliating Ugliness Tour which was picking up steam…

As mentioned, the reason for her departure was unclear, but a tweet sent yesterday shed more light as to why she has been away and has kept a relatively low profile:

EDA stands for Eating Disorders Anonymous, which explains why she left with little notice and has kept her head down for all this time: she’s been getting the help, support and guidance that she needed to get herself back on track. It is encouraging that someone like Guerrero – who was on a roll at the time with her Diaz character in the early weeks of the NXT reboot – could decide that her health and well-being was more important than staying on the rollercoaster to please everyone else, and thumbs up for WWE for leaving the door open for her. Good for both parties to agree on this direction.

I wrote a piece in support of Skyler at the time that she revealed the issues that she was battling, so I’m going to link to that commentary here as there is a lot of expanding on the subject of eating disorders, stories from celebrities who have been through the same thing and links for anyone suffering from similar issues.

Hopefully she gets better and although she isn't a good wrestler a non wrestling role would suit her just fine.

She'd be great actually debuting as Vickie's daughter and Vickie pushing her!

I sincerely hope that the stress of the eating disorder was keeping her from properly grasping ring work because she did not show much promise when she was in developmental. She had good character so maybe a valet role or just an onscreen character would be better for her

NXT Diva Raquel Diaz is back! Well, on Twitter anyway.

The former Diva, real name Shaul Guerrero, recently tweeted about moving to Orlando, where the WWE Performance Center is located. Her mother Vickie Guerrero confirmed that news.

Now she’s resurrected her Raquel Diaz Twitter account, once again assuming her “Ultra Diva” persona and tweeting about it:
