Well, maybe it's not actually safer than a bomb shelter, since it sits atop a volcanic peak just two hours from Los Angeles in Newberry Springs, Calif. So instead of being underground and invisible, you'll be highly visible -- but with a 360-degree view of whatever's coming your way. And most of the time, it'll probably just be sunshine.
