Hitting Women - Right or Wrong?

Got this from another forum and its interesting discussion!

What are your opinions on this. Some people think that it is never acceptable to hit a woman under any circumstances and some let their fist fly without thinking of the aftermath.

What about a guy who is smaller and weaker than a woman, which makes the man incapable of restraining her? I believe that it's a case of either you fight back, or you just accept getting beaten up - the right thing to do would not to hit her.

I'm sure that even under those circumstances I wouldn't fight back because as a child my parents raised me to not ever see a women as a punching bag, and I'd likely do anything other than hit her back. I think that you shouldn't hit a woman, even if she hits you first you should do your best to restrain her. If you're physically not capable of restraining her and the alternative is getting beaten up, surely you should just take the beaten.

now this is different. if the woman is physically stronger then you may be...or shes hitting you in the face etc...imo you have every right to defend yourself. surely i wouldnt let a woman punch me in the face without some sort of reaction. a woman shouldnt be hitting a guy in the first place, but to say they should just stand there and let the person kick their ass...is pushing it just a little bit.

hitting women is wrong and it just makes you look like a punk ass man.

now if the woman is built like Nicole Bass or Chyna when she was in DX, and she's beating the shit out of you, you should defend yourself atleast.

I agree its wrong but girls(SOME) definitely take advantage of us and continue running there mouth. I'm ok with them running that mouth because I can just walk away and let the bitch continue talking to herself HOWEVER! Guys can only take so much if a girl continues to slap him and shit like that, I dont agree with hitting girls but some of them deserve it. IMO!

Because I never did lol, I'm just putting myself in the middle. I can see why some crazy girl deserves to get slapped at the very least, I dont nor will I ever be ok with a guy beating the living shit out of a girl. I knew a girl, she was a total slut at the school a few years back, and she was a future crim...Dating the school bully, and getting pregnant to him at 16...He was a runaway from the cops eventually for vandalising cars.
Anyway, my friend and her boyfriend were having a 'fued' and she got involved, approaching him and attacking him with knees to the head and all. She was a viscious bitch who deserved a good knock to the head. Unfortunately, my friend has strong feelings against hitting girls, no matter if they attack him first.

I agree with many views on here, that men have the right to hit girls if they displayed reasonable force towards them in the first instance. However, they do not have the right to bash the crap out of the girl, by taking it wayyy too far. Girls like this one definantly deserve whats coming to them, but it doesn't excuse the fact that its just plain wrong. Its a display of power for many men, and although many are innocent and not aggressive, it should apply to all.

I do not believe in hitting a woman unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. If it was a matter of life and death, that ass is getting beat like a man lol If she is trying to hit me with the intent to maliciously hurt, she'll just be restrained with a MASSIVE bearhug lol

I can tolerate a lot of punishment/pain so I doubt I'd ever hit a female. Unless as said before they're a Chyna look-a-like. If anyone is threatening your life, no matter who they are, you should defend yourself. Or you're just a dumbass.

Its wrong for men to hit women, and its wrong for women to hit men. It goes both ways.

The way I see it its wrong to hit ANYONE, unless it was provoked and cant be helped.
Im an equal rights type of guy, so I dont think its wrong to hit a woman BECAUSE shes a woman. Its wrong because violence against someone who dosnt deserve it is wrong, especually if theyre weaker than you. Not saying all women are weaker than men, far from it, but in general men are bigger and stronger. It's like bullying. Just wrong.
And while I say its wrong to hit people, I will defend others with much vigor and furious anger if they're being bullied. I just cant abide that kind of behavior.
