Dan Aykroyd
seems to be back in work. Not that he hasn’t always been gainfully employed in some respect, but he just seems to be getting better offers these days. A couple of years ago he was fronting direct-to-dvd drivel so bad I…. can’t recall the titles of the film’s I’m slamming. Now – possibly because every tie in town knows he’s going to be back bigger than ever in a couple of years when “Ghostbusters 3” comes out? – he’s back invading the blockbusters.
Hot on the heels of the
news that the one-time Dr. Detroit will headline a new John ‘The Blues Brothers’ Landis comedy called “Burke and Hare”,
Variety’s announced that Aykroyd’s snagged a plum role in the live-action/CGI “Yogi Bear” flick. Though you’d think Aykroyd would be a better Ranger Smith, he’s actually been asked to provide the voice of ‘Yogi’ himself – strangely enough.
Oh, and Boo Boo? That honour will go to crooner Justin Timberlake.
Interesting choices, hey? I just don’t see Aykroyd and Timberlake hanging out… do you?
Flesh-wise, Anna Faris will be playing a documentary maker in the film, which lenses in New Zealand next month. Eric Brevig ("Journey to the Center of the Earth
") is directing from a script by Brad Copeland.
