As we all expected he would be, Ivan Reitman has confirmed he’ll indeed be returning to the ectoplasm-drenched director’s chair to helm “Ghostbusters 3
”.
The filmmaker – who, aside from the first two “Ghostbusters
” flicks, also directed “Kindergarten Cop”, “Twins” and the underrated comedy classic "Legal Eagles", starring Debra Winger and Bob Redford – announced he’ll be reacquainting with the “old gang” in an interview with
MTV Movies Blog.
What Reitman didn’t say was whether Sigourney Weaver’s
recent spoilerific comments about the new film’s storyline were true.
"I'm not going to comment on what's in the script and on what Sigourney may or may not have said," he told us. "She's been so busy on 'Avatar,' I've not been able to find her. There's some very cool things in the new draft, let's just put it that way."
Reitman, working from a script by "Year One
" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (who are on a second draft, says Reitman), hopes to shoot the flick sometime over the next twelve months.
