Some more information on the DG: USA situation with the Young Bucks and Davey Richards. Gabe Sapolsky contacted Mike Johnson to clarify that the issue was not getting anyone to job on their way out, but rather getting them to keep their commitments. Gabe wanted to avoid setting a precedent with any talent where the promotion cannot deliver what they are advertising. He made mention of the fact that they have not and will not advertise any talent unless they give a "100% commitment" for their dates.
When Davey Richards was planning to work the Dragon Gate USA shows in Phoenix during WrestleMania weekend, Ring of Honor was looking at possible legal action to prevent him from doing so. One option was to file an injunction to prevent Davey from working that weekend, as he was under contract to Ring of Honor. Once Richards became aware of the situation, he made the offer to work double shots that weekend. The whole scenario was avoided when Richards signed a new contract with ROH and dropped out of the DGUSA events.
According to sources, Davey Richards' ROH deal was set to expire in April, meaning he would have been under contract to the promotion for WrestleMania weekend either way.
Gabe Sapolsky also made strong note that he had not had a conversation with TNA's Terry Taylor, as had been rumored.
Davey Richards issued the following statement earlier tonight, regarding the recent issues with Dragon Gate USA... Evolve.. As im sure many of you already know with the dealings going on between me and some other companies. Alot has been posted and what not and ill let people choose to believe what they want to believe. The only couple of things about the situation I would like to comment on are: 1. I cant fight someone elses war any longer. 2. The idea I used someone as leverage for a better money deal is sad and just plain wrong. There is no money in indy wrestling! 3. Even though I am no longer a part of Evolve wrestling, there is still some tremendous talent there that is every bit as good as me. Please conitinue to support them by supporting Evolve. In closing, I would like to say that ROH is home, and its good to be home. | |
