End of Survivor Series
It's a sad day in the world of wrestling. Vince McMahon and WWE have announced that the Survivor Series has come to an end.
End of Survivor Series On a weekly basis, Vince McMahon, the character, addresses the people who money into his pockets when he appears on an episode of Raw, Smackdown, or ECW.
On a much less frequent basis, Vince McMahon, the chairman, addresses the other group of people who put money into his pockets - the stockholders.
Most of the stuff that Vince McMahon talks about at these conferences would be rather dull for the typical wrestling fan. However, this latest conference brought about news that every wrestling fan should hate to hear.
Vince McMahon announced that the Survivor Series would no longer exists.
The Reason In order to explain his decision, Vince McMahon informed the stockholders that the company was ending the pay per view because it was not doing well financially. Buyrates have been disappointing for the Survivor Series.
The company also stressed that it was making strong efforts to replace it with something new that would do better than the 23 year old event.
The Real Reason The real reason why WWE is putting an end to the Survivor Series is that they're admitting defeat. They're unable to revive the storied event, so they have to cancel it to prevent the stockholders from losing faith in the company.
For some reason, Vince McMahon and his creative team have been unable to consistently build exciting matches for the Survivor Series.
It's kind of odd since a lot of creativity isn't necessarily needed. Back in the days, there were random teams thrown together with no real connections, and WWE was able to make it work back then.
It would take a few minutes for anyone to truly find any connections between Dusty Rhodes, the Red Rooster, Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake, and Tito Santana.
Wasted Chance Much like the purposes of a stable, the Survivor Series was a vehicle that could have been used to elevate the lower wrestlers by associating them with wrestlers that are higher up on the card.
A lot of wrestling fans felt that WWE was finally on to something with last year's event when the Miz, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, and Dolph Ziggler were all on the same team. Those five wrestlers are young upcomers that the team could have hyped together.
Remember when CM Punk was paired with Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H? That was one of the reasons why he was able to move his way up from ECW rookie to World Heavyweight Champion.
If used properly, the Survivor Series pay per view could be used to elevate wrestlers in much of the same way that the Money in the Bank match and the Royal Rumble match have become.

| I think losing Survivor Series is a bad idea.
just as the article says, that tag match that featured Punk was one of the things that helped him step up to the main event scene.
WWE just has some crappy booking at times. | |
