| Battle of the Racially-Motivated FactionsThe Nation of Domination vs. The Latin American eXchange (LAX)What They're AboutThe Nation of Domination was formed by Faarooq and Clarence Mason to stand up for African-American rights in the WWE and do so by 'any means necessary'. They surrounded themselves with rappers JC Ice and Wolfie D (PG-13, Too Cool before there was the latter), Savio Vega, D'Lo Brown (along with other men clad in suits and bowties meant to represent the Nation) and Brian Adams, a racially diverse variation. Inner dissension (faarooq had PG-13 kicked out and fed like meat to the Legion of Doom) and the team costing Faarooq a WWE Title shot against 'Taker led Faarooq to 'fire' all except D'Lo and went back to basics. He later brought in Kama Mustafa and Rocky Maivia to form a new but 'bigger and blacker' version of the Nation. Starting as just another Faarooq lackey, Rocky quickly established a mind of his own and formed the Rock persona which was exemplified once he gained the IC from Stone Cold Steve Austin, being the first Nation member to hold a belt in the stable. Rocky's and Faarooq's egos clashed for quite a bit of time until Rock managed to unsurp total leadership from Faarooq and had him kicked out. The Nation dropped the 'black Muslim/Panther' gimmick and adapted that of cool, street-wise villains. Kama became the Godfather, D'Lo got the headshake, Mark formed the beginnings of his Sexual Chocolate deal, and Owen Hart joined the group as a disguntled psychotic 'Black Hart'. The group finally met its end after two years when D'lo and Mark beat Rock and Godfather out of the stable,, and Owen quit out of disgust for the Rock's ego. LAX originally formed from the chaotic aftermath of 4Live Kru when Konnan attacked Kip James (Billy Gunn) out of disgust for his joining of the Kru. subsequently, Konnan went back 'to his peoples' and brought into TNA with him, Machete and Apolo to engage in a feud with a reformed New Age Outlaws. After Apolo was fired, he was replaced by Homicide from ROH with Machete later kicked out and replaced with Hernandez, beginning what became arguably the best incarnation of the stable-the team became extremelly militant, refusing to participate in matches because they'd felt latinos were being discriminated against in the company. They gained a supporter in spanish announcer Moody Jack Melendez and literally took over the Spanish announce table, attacking any who came near it who wasn't of Latino descent. Once being forced back into active competition, they quickly made a niche for themselves in the tag division and would later claim responsibility for disbanding Daniels and Styles along with AMW. Once Konnan left LAX and TNA period, LAX left only Homicide and Hernandez who dropped the militancy and became proud street thugs instead, alter bringing in Hector Guerrero and Salinas to the group. When Guerrero was forced out due to a loss at the hands of Beer Money and Salinas leaving the company, LAX was reduced to the center two again all the way until Homicide betrayed Hernandez and joined World Elite, disbanding LAX after a unprecented five year run. TacticsThe Nation were hardly ever seen seperate. There were at least one if not all of them out ringside when one was competing in a match, looking for any opportunity to illegal assist when the referee's back was turned. Under Faarooq, they were known by JR to be a 'pack of wolves', assaulting opponents in gang-like fasion whenever the opportunity presented itself. Under The Rock's leadership, their tactics became much more clever in design with Rocky going so far as to go over plans backstage with the crew and even developing hand signals to summon a Nation member to his aid, namely D'lo. The feud with DX saw plenty of times when The Rock's craftiness shown itself during his tenure as Nation leader. In all incarnations, The Nation were excellent in mind games-they would infuriated all those they opposed to a great deal due to their refusal to ever accept loss. They talked a lot of shit, and afterwards would continue to do so-at times this would come to their advantage. In the original group, the nameless, mute suitmen would often serve as back-up in Nation battles. Under Konnan, LAX were exceptionally brutal, often using hangers, biting, clawing, and slapjacks with the intent to maim their enemies out of anger. Without the animalism, as a tag team, Hernandez and Homicide were shining examples of team from their era, a legit threat with or without brutality or Konnan. Like The Nation they held the brotherhood aspect in which one was never seen with at least one or the rest. Under Konnan, they were extremely concentrated in their goals and extremely persistent. Guerrero was able to do the same but the brutality was no longer there. Mind games were their primary fortay under Konnan, who served as mouthpiece, inciting crowds and opponents with LAX's racial agenda, similiar to Faarooq. However, mind games could backfire on LAX as much as they could aid. Periodically, LAX found aid in the form of nameless unidentified supporters known as The Latino Nation, just like The Nation's suitmen. ChampionshipsNation: Intercontinental, European LAX: NWA World Tag Team, TNA World Tag Team, X-Division, IWA Tag, JAPW Tag The End Result:After a hell of a lot of trash talking and gang-style sneak attacks, The Nation would come out on top as their power and numbers advantage would be too much eventually for LAX (despite having an actual tag team advantage over The Nation) to handle, although it would be a long, drawn-out battle with a lot of illegal interference from both sides. Winners: NOD'Power to the Nation!' Next Time: Battle of the Maple Leaf: Team Canada vs. Team Canada

| This is something like they did in the old Raw magazine where they'd have a current guy face off against a past wrestler in a fantasy match | |

| Battle of the Maple Leaf: Team Canada vs. Team CanadaWhat They're AboutBoth stables' modus operandi: a belief that Canada is more superior to the United States and represent the country likewise. The WCW Team Canada was led by Lance Storm, coming into existence on the January 14th edition of Monday Nitro when Carl Outlette, Elix Skipper and Jacques Rougeau interfered on behalf of Storm in a US Title defense against Mike Awesome with Storm announcing the formation of the group at the end of the match. At the time, Storm held the WCW United States, Hardcore, and Cruiserweight Championships at the same time (placing maple leaf stickers on them and rebranding them the "Canadian Heavyweight Championship", "100 Kilos and Under Championship", and "Saskatchewan Hardcore International Title" respectively) and thus rewarded Outlette with the Hardcore Title and Skipper the Cruiserweight Title for their assistance that Nitro. Outlette however lost his belt later that night. Rougeau and Outlette left WCW soon afterward, leaving only Skipper and Storm. When the duo engaged in a feud with the rebellious Misfits in Action, Hacksaw Jim Duggan joined along with Major Gunns from the MIA, having turned her back on the stable. After engaging in a feud with the Filthy Animals, former enemy Mike Awesome joined Team Canada to replace a turning Duggan. However, this most well-known incarnation of the team didn't last long as Skipper and Gunns left the team soon afterward, reducing Team Canada back down to a tag team, remaining so until WCW was bought and thus this group was brought to an end. Team Canada in TNA is propably the best known stable under the name. Originally beginning life as a entrant team in the 2004 America's X-Cup Tournament with Scott D'Amore as coach, Teddy Hart as team captain followed by Jack Evans, Johnny Devine and Petey Williams. When the World X-Cup was announced, Williams replaced Hart as team captain and Devine remained, with the duo joined by Eric Young and Bobby (Robert) Roode. Afterwards, they remained as a team and became an active stable quickly establishing themselves as major nuisances on the TNA roster with their gimmick being that of patriotic frat boys with violent tendencies. As D'Amore, Williams, Roode, Young, (Ruffy Silverstein was in there somewhere) with Alastair 'A-1' R alphs brought in as their enforcer to replace an injured Johnny Devine, Team Canada were a legit force in the ring (Roode and Young captured the NWA Tag Titles twice and Williams captured the X-Division Championship on one occasion). All members of Team Canada also joined Planet Jarrett in heavy part in paranoia to them losing their jobs, serving as Jeff Jarrett's top henchmen in his plans to dominate the company. The group may have been annoyances but their ability overall could not be denied as they showed high degrees of toughness in lengthy feuds with 3(4)Live Kru and later Team 3D. They even particpated in the 2005 World X-Cup Tournament, with Devine rejoining them and Tyson Dux joining for the tournament. Afterwards, the group's fraternal terrorism of the TNA locker room came to a screeching halt when then on-screen authority figure Jim Cornette forced them to disband but gave them a chance in a 8-man tag match against Rhino, Team 3D, and Jay Lethal with if they won, the disbanding order would be null and void. Lethal pinned A-1, thus bringing the group to an end. In 2009, Team Canada was resurrected for one night only as the team of Petey Williams and Eric Young for a losing effort to then TNA World Tag Team Champions Beer Money. Tactics-Storm may have bored folks to sleep with his promos but he was a clever son-of-bisquit, having managed to convince a true American patriot like Duggan, a seductress like Gunns, and a American powerhouse in Awesome to join his clique. maybe it was because of an over-reliance on American turncoats caused Team Canada ultimately as their varying styles and personalities ultimately didn't mesh together minus Storm and Awesome. Like any clan-faction, one was not seen without the others, always looking to interfere on behalf of their teammates. -Undoubtedly due to D'Amore's loudmouth coaching, this Team Canada excelled in tag team contests and in the case of Williams, singles as well. Despite being athletically gifted, Team Canada were prone to illegal tactics, often casuing confusion in the ring to steal victories as well as being notorious for beating down theoir adversaries violently, often draping Canadian flags on the fallen bodies for mind games and pure disrespect and bravado. Championships-WCW United States, Cruiserweight, and World Tag Team -NWA World Tag Team, X-Division How It Would Go Down: I figure it will start as a general wrestling clinic for Storm, bending up Williams like a pretzel then would gain steam with exciting exchanges. After a while, TNA's Team Canada would gain the advantage via their legit in-ring fluidity with each other, something WCW's team lacked severely. Enter Major Gunns who would undoubtedly distract but D'Amore's coaching would prove to be decisive, leading the TNA squad to summon up that vicious streak to dispatch Gunns via Canadian Destroyer on the outside with the rest using teamwork to dispatch the WCW team. Winners: Team Canada (TNA)'TNEh!' | |
