My good buddy Jamie over at IESB unveieled a Dom DeLuise-sized bit of comic-book movie news overnight.
According to the former TMFT writer's more reliable sources, Warner Bros
already has
more than an idea who they want to direct their impending "Man of Steel" (the recently announced "Superman" reboot), "Justice League
" and "The Flash" projects.
Firstly, the Burbank bunch are said to be courting Jonah Nolan, Chris's brother and a writer on the "Batman" flicks, to direct the "Superman" project. With his sibling recently announced as the film's producer, the story doesn't seem too far-fetched - maybe Christopher agreed to shepherd the project (which won't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a complete make-over of the series) if his brother could direct?
Speaking of Nolan, he's who Warner Bros is chasing to direct the on-again off-again on-again "Justice League of America
" film. The film, which would be released after the third "Batman" movie and the aforementioned "Man of Steel", will - like the recently abandoned George Miller-directed version - team DC Superheroes' Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and The Flash. It's assumed that the new project won't share the storyline of the canned Miller version nor it's attached cast - which included supermodel Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and newcomer Armie Hammer as Batman.
As for "The Flash", it's ruoured that TV fave Greg Berlanti
("Brothers & Sisters", "Everwood") will get the gig. Berlanti, who was initially up for the director's job on "Green Lantern" before the more-established Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale") expressed interest,is apparently a favourite of the WB. In some respects, the job offer smells of 'Shit, sorry about Green Lantern man. Tell you what, we'll throw you a bone - heard of the guy in red who runs Fast!?', but sheesh, who's he to complain?
