Traditionally, show business and alcohol are thought to be immune to recessions.

It looks like we can add baby teeth to that list. A survey of 1,500 parents nationwide released by Delta Dental of Minnesota found that 86% did not allow economic gloom and doom to impact the Tooth Fairy's payouts. The Tooth Fairy is paying a bounty of $2.13 per tooth this year on average, up 13% from last year.

"This year's Tooth Fairy Poll average reflects improvements we're seeing in other areas of the economy," said Ann Johnson, director of community affairs for Delta Dental of Minnesota in a press release. "For example, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 23 percent during the same time period. The Tooth Fairy may be another indicator that the economy is starting to recover."

On a darker note, job losses and tight finances have more families going without dental insurance, despite evidence that stress, and the accompanying jaw clenchng and tooth grinding, are landing more people in a dentist's chair.


I thought this was a pretty cool article and made me think about the tooth fairy in general. So answer the questions in the title.

I got $1 per tooth and then when i lost my last baby tooth I got $5.

I'll probably do the same for my daughter..idk..maybe more if i am making good money in my career.

I use to hate when my teeth came loose, I would baby those things until they were out. I just hated when I would bite down on it, or I could feel it move. I should have got a good chunk of cash when those suckers came out.

I only got 25 cents per tooth. But I will give $1 per tooth.

My kids ain't getting shit!!!! I'm already feeding the fuckers, what more could they need?

I remember those days, I was so miserable. I even cringed a little reading this. lol

Fortunately for me, that didn't happen. I couldn't stop messing with it, so, it eventually came out.

Back then, you could get a nice piece of candy or an icy.

I used to get maybe a dollar or two per tooth. I even had a tooth pillow to put it in and I'd wake up to money in its place. The good old days. :P

When I got my teeth pulled last year for my braces all I got was McDonald's and a "I'm so sorry you had to go through that."
