as for that Cena/Benoit thing, Cena was just turning face and Michael Hayes had the idea that Smackdown before Survivor Series which had Cena and Benoit tagging together would end with Cena FUing Benoit to give him a Stone Cold feel. nobody else on the creative team thought that idea was good and they thought it would confuse the crowd. Hayes still thought it was a good idea and went to Vince with it, saying that everyone else loved it. so it happened anyway but the crowd got confused and they realised what a lame idea it was so it was never aired
