The UK Sun has an interview with Andrew Whitaker, the head of the WWE International Department, who commented on why scripted entertainment has an advantage over professional sports. “If you’re watching a particular sporting event — take a boxing event as an example — there’s a lot of hype before the event and it leads to the grand finale and you’re thinking it’s going to be a 12-round-plus fight and it ends in eight seconds.”

He also towed the company line and explained that WWE is more focused on the ‘E’ than the second ‘W.’ “We see ourselves very much as an entertainment company that happens to also produce product in this genre and is the kind of — let’s call it the flagship leader — of that particular genre of programming.”

Oh yeah, I believe that. Maybe at one point they cared more about the wrestling, concidering the ass holes didn't always have the "E". Now, all they care about is the "M", which is money.

WWE doesn't have an M.

But I know what you're saying. We want to be entertained but we want to see wrestling at the same time.
