Kevin's Review: Alice in Wonderland (2010) Alice-in-wonderland-2010-Tim_Burton-s

Movie: Alice in Wonderland
Released: 2010
Genre: Adventure/Fantasy/Family
Directed by: Tim Burton

Stars: Mia Masikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helen Bonham Carter and Crispin Glover

Let me just say, Tim Burton did an amazing job with this movie. At times you get lost in the amazing special effects. It is truly insane. It is a stunning movie to watch. I’ve got to give props to Mia Masikowska, she did amazing playing Alice, I was skeptical because she didn’t really “look” the part. BUT she pulled it off. Johnny Depp was flawless as usual and Anne Hatheway was a delight to watch.

Though they were selling this film around the names of Johnny Depp and Anne Hatheway, the true highlight and stand out of the film was, Helena Bonham Carter, her portrayal of “The Red Queen” was truly amazing. It was such a delight to watch. And most the scenes involving her was the high points of this film. Also Tweedledee and Tweedledum was soo fun to watch as well. They usually stole the scenes.

Crispin Glover was also great in this film. The acting in this film wasn’t SUPERB by any means but it still was really really good. Also the March Hare was also super funny and got to give props to Paul Whitehouse for pulling it off, he was also another scene stealer.

Though I haven’t seen the original or the Disney Version, I got to admit I truly enjoyed it. This is not a film I’d say anyone just go and watch it. You have to be really open minded and open to new and weird things to enjoy it.

But the bad, it was it's writing. It was poor writing and the actors just couldn't make it any better then it was. I give the actors props for portraying their characters and delivering their performance as good as they can, but the writing was rather bland. BUT i still enjoy it, simply because of it's amazing effects.

My rating? 3 out of 5 Stars. Not great, but Good. I was happy I saw this film because it was my Nr. 1 Film to watch in 2010 and I’m glad I had the opportunity to watch it.
