I got my two wisdom teeth out today

I was so scared when I went in there, did it with IV sedation and next thing I know they're waking me up telling me I'm done. My whole mouth and cheeks are numb and swollen and I'm feeling very drowsy and loopy. I have the gauze pads in my mouth and the pain is already starting to kick in. I'm just happy I got it over with and thought I would share with you guys.

eehhh it isn't that bad, i had 3 pulled out, you should be aight in a day or two.Good to hear it went aight.

Everyone I know are late bloomers. I had all 4 of mine taken out when I was in 10th grade.

my wisdom teeth wont ever come in fully. they are stuck in the bone. so i will never need them removed.

the good thing is that if they did come in fully, they would ruin my alignment so i'd need braces...so lucky me that wont happen


downside: every few months or so i get terrible toothaches for 3 days or so..and that's my wisdom teeth trying to come in.

I know Vee, that was so disgusting, it gets all soggy and everything. I finally ran out of the pads so I used cotton balls.

Not really feeling much pain at all now and haven't taken medication either. Now as long as I don't get a dry socket I should be fine. That was a damn good oral surgeon

You had to be sedated? Ahhh you American's are softys! Haha :D Where I'm from, the docter ties a string to a door and yanks, and out pops the wisdom tooth covered in blood, sweat, and gum...Yeah, you didn't believe that either, did you?

I know someone who wasnt sedated. He was wide awake when they pulled his wisdom teeth out.

No pain today! Just slight discomfort when I swallow or drink water. Still don't need to take the medicine but I'm taking the antibiotics to prevent infection

Lol, I didn't believe that when I saw you first saying it! :P I have really bad anxiety and read up on IV sedation so I went with that. I didn't want to be aware of what was going on or know what happened and I got my wish. All I remember is the oral surgeon saying "You're going to be feeling a little tipsy in a few seconds and then that kicked in then the next thing I remember is hearing some sounds then the woman woke me up telling me I'm done.

Yeah, some just go with the local anesthetic but it can go pretty bad. I just can't imagine being awake during that and hearing the cracking and feeling pressure

I don't think that'll happen to you, you're taking good care of everything.

Pretty much, going to start swishing warm salt water today to keep it clean and everything. Gonna attempt to brush my teeth as well but I don't know if I should brush in those areas yet. I'm sticking with soft foods for at least 5 days until I know for sure I won't get a dry socket, I'm very paranoid

I wasn't sedated when I got mine out. A lil Novocain is all.

Then again, i had one damn cute dentist.....i could sit and stare all day.

First thing i thought when i walked in the office and saw this maybe 29/30 year old with a mini mowhawk and sneakers.......i was like...OMG then got a better look and was like :ooh la la:

Damnit, I spoke up too soon. The swelling started a bit.

But seriously...all we get is a needle in the gum to numb the pain, and then they yank it out. You don't even know if its out.

When can a dry socket occur? The whole side of my face is swollen and I've also got swollen lymph nodes in my neck and I've got some pain in the area where the tooth was. I could be just being paranoid but I'm a bit freaked out now.

Other symptoms of dry socket include bad breath and an unpleasant smell and taste in your mouth.

Well I've got a checkup with the oral surgeon next Tuesday so he can see how I'm doing. This is just freaking me out because I thought I was suppose to be getting better and not worse. The swelling actually started last night on one side and started on the other side today with the swollen lymph nodes and I've got an ear problem already so it could very well be that.

This was what I was afraid of though, but I was talking to a friend on the phone last night and he said if I got a dry socket he'd get me a front row ticket to the next upcoming Raw or SD show, that's how confident he was that I wouldn't get one.

sounds like it might just be swelling and maybe not dry socket.

I hope so, on the paper they sent me home with it says the swelling could increase for 72 hours then start decreasing so I'm just hoping for the best. I just get easily paranoid

just try to stay calm..stress can have adverse effects on the body..

Don't use a straw if you are drinking, that can cause a major dry socket.

I think I'm just being paranoid, the pain isn't that bad now. I've been doing everything I'm suppose to be doing, eating soft foods, rinsing with warm salt water, etc.

An update: Just got back from seeing the oral surgeon, he says I'm healing fine and I can eat what I want! White Castle tonight, woohoo!! About to take the dog for a walk because I'm just in a good mood! :D
