I don't know why I'm even mentioning this because, quite likely, the following was said in jest - but even if it wasn't (unlikely), the chances of it actually coming together are slim to none.
Talking about Oliver Stone's comments regarding a "Scarface" prequel.
While talking to Total Film (via Sky Showbiz) about "Wall Street : Money Never Sleeps", Stone - who wrote "Scarface" - commented:
"It's been great to go back with Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," he confessed. "I should go back and do Son of Scarface or something!"
So what are we talking here? Joaquin Phoenix as Scarface Jr? a flick revolving around the later years of Elvira Hancock's (Michelle Pfeiffer's role) life? Perhaps the backstory of a young Frank Lopez?... or perhaps a prequel that will only ever exist in the pages of a popular UK film magazine? Heh.
In 2001 a rapper named Cuban Link announced he'd be starring in and making "Son of Tony", an 'unofficial' sequel to the Brian De Palma hit. Once the rights holders got wind of Mr Link's plans, the project was swiftly canceled.
