The Future Of Nexus + The Reason For Tag Title Change

The latest twist in the Nexus storyline is that the title match ban for the group's members has been lifted, as announced by RAW's General Manager last night. Wade Barrett will compete for the WWE Title in Night of Champions' Six Pack Challenge. Members of Nexus have actually been getting WWE Tag Team Title shots against The Hart Dynasty at WWE live events over the past few weeks.

-- It is believed that Nexus in its current form will cease come October.

-- Vince McMahon made the decision to rename the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship the WWE Tag Team Championship because he wanted new belts to be marketed. Another reason given for the change is that it's easier for talent to pass through airports with one set of belts than two. It is currently unknown if the belts will be considered a brand new championship or if they will carry the lineage of either one or both Tag Team Championships.

So, does this mean members from season 2 will join and some current members get cut?

If they do plan on only carrying one pair of title belts, they should be for both brands. And why the fuck does Vince want to market those ugly pieces of shit?!

I think the titles should be defended on both brands. There are teams on SD too.

The belt is dual-branded. But the Hart Dynasty are in rivalrys on Raw and it would be difficult to go halfway across the country straight after Raw to be at the Smackdown tapings and then back again for the next Raw. I know some people do it for NXT but I bet they get paid extra for it and HD wouldn't.

HD prolly would IF they did fly over...but WWE clearly see that as a little too much expense
this is another reason why i feel that they shouldnt unify the diva and womens title because it would end up being the same as the Tag title, where one devision has challengers and the other devision is forgotten

Why would WWE see it as an expense? They don't pay for flights, the superstars do. Your gonna have to blame Stephanie McMahon and creative for this.

And I remember what WWE was like back when they only had the Womens Title. Torrie Wilson would have and Stacy Kiebler possibly would have had title reigns if it wasn't a Raw exclusive.

Which was a good thing. They were hot, but some shitty wrestlers.

I always thought Torrie was a solid diva. I know she wasn't the best but she did have some talent. Kiebler came from WCW and we all know that WCW divas had no talent at all.

Are you referring to Torrie's in-ring skills?

Both were good valets, but I feel that they were terrible in the ring.

I was never a fan of Stacy's in-ring work, but Torrie's work with Beth and McCool at Summerslam 07 was pretty good I thought.

Thats just my opinion though, and I'm not the best of judges when it comes to divas anyways.

I never saw that match. LOL... she indeed did come from WCW. Her and Kidman were a good pair. I just thought of something.... Ms. Tessmacher is nothing more but a mere ripoff of Stacy's wcw gimmick - she just doesn't go down to the ring and randomly give stripteases.

Actually Stacy was sheduled to win the belt at one point, when she was getting a push. She said no, because she didn't want to be a full time wrestler and she felt it would have been a slap in the face to the actual wrestlers. So she was supposed to be champ when she was on Raw, but unlike Melina, Michelle, Maryse and a few others, she said no.

Torrie Wilson was good, not great, but good, NCD you should check out Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria on Sunday night heat, the match that got cut short because Victoria injured her knee. Actually at the end of her career Torrie was performing at a really good level, she wasn't great but could always hold her own. Her down fall was she was always viewed as this girl who was just there for T&A. I loved her work with Dawn as well, they had some really solid matches back in the day, better then what we get today actually.

I've seen many of her matches. She wasn't as terrible as Ashley, but she was still pretty bad imo.

Meh, IMO she was decent enough, i would have given her a run with the gold. i still think she's better then Candice, Eve, Maryse, Alicia,....hell...i believe at the end of her career she was getting as good as Melina. I liked her matches, her last 3/4 years her matches were fun.

Nexus just fell so fast, man-had a real good build-up then....SQUASHED at Summerslam, no recovery

I don't see how they were squashed. They should've been though.

Regardless of how you feel, WWE needs a new generation to carry them. The Nexus represented a change to alot of fans. Now that they got built up only to be smashed down by Cena's Super Friends, it has squandered that hope. WWE ruined that angle by allowing to get stale and not making The Nexus stand out after awhile with the constant beatdowns and zero character development SO MUCH SO however that it got eventually to the point where they had no choice BUT to squash them. Management fucking themselves and everyone else over again.

You're absolutely right. They could've elevated some of these younger guys with more matches and promos instead of mindless beatdowns repeatedly to damn near each person on Raw. The only one who benefited from it from it was Wade Barrett because he is the frontman of the group. They could've been had a few feuds building up for these guys instead of them just being hitmen.

All in all, it was ok, but Summerslam really killed it.
