Want to play Electronic Arts' NBA Elite 11? Well, then get an iPhone because that is the only place you can play EA's baller this year. Recently, EA announced it was canning the console edition of NBA Elite 11 and freeing up the bundled high-def NBA Jam reboot as a standalone game.
But last night, NBA Elite 11 popped into the App Store. It offers five-on-five play and a full NBA license (as well as legendary players like Scotty Pippen and David Robinson). In addition to the full-deal basketball, EA included a three-point shootout mode for casual gamers.
So, wow. Who ever expected to see the iPhone be the premiere platform for an EA Sports game? Granted, it happened at the expense of an entire product line, but it definitely shows that EA felt strongly enough about the quality of Elite on the iDevices to not drop it along with the ill-fated console games.
