| Subject: Low Ki (Kaval) Interview Fri 03 Dec 2010, 12:20 pm | |
| Question: Eddie Guerrero was/is always a favourite of mine. I know you worked with him in what I think was Eddie’s first ROH appearance following his release from the WWF in 2001. What was it like to work with Eddie, and what are your memories from that match?
Kaval: It wasnt for ROH. It was for Intense Championship Wrestling, formerly Ultimate Championship Wrestling. I had the pleasure of competing against one of the greatest ever in the Queens Elk’s Lodge as the champion for ICW. I remember asking the company to make sure he was in good spirits before arriving to the building. When I had arrived , I saw him sitting down, almost forgotten by the other wrestlers in the locker room. I introduced myself as his opponent for the evening and he stood up. After greeting him, I told him I pictured us having a New Japan style match, and his eyes lit up. That was the last thing I said to him before the match and we went out and headlined the event.
Question: Why did you decide to make The Warriors Way your finisher move?
Kaval: Years of trial and error. I have always been strong for my size, so naturally I always liked to showcase my strength. But after years of competing at a high impact level, your body begins to let you know your limitations. I am normally the smaller competitor so it was a very simple decision of practicality. I dont need to use strength on my opponents, I am the weapon!
Question: What is the first martial art you learned?
Kaval: Aikido. I joined America’s Finest Aikido Academy in February 1997, while still in High School.
Question: We understand you were an Aikidoist. How did that come to pass and what ranking did you reach.
Kaval: I joined the dojo along with my uncle and younger cousin. Since I didnt believe in colored ranking, I chose to stay wearing my white belt as I advanced. Unsuspecting members were always fun to train with.
Question: How did Aikido help you in his journey towards becoming a wrestler?
Kaval: Aikido was very influential in developing physical rhythm and flow. You can see the results of that in many of my rolling techniques, which are traditional Ukemi waza and not standard Pro Wrestling technique.
Question: Would you recommend Aikido to those who are interested in pursuing a wrestling career?
Kaval: No. I would recomment Aikido as an art to become a better person. You can discover amazing things as a practitioner.
Question: Who are your top five favorite opponents?
Kaval: It’s hard to pick favorites since every wrestler is different, but these have given me the most memories: Eddie Guerrero (WWE), Kenta Kobashi (Pro Wrestling NOAH), Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan-WWE), KENTA (Pro Wrestling NOAH), Christopher Daniels (TNA)
Question: If you were not wrestling what other dream career would you have gotten into?
Kaval: I am not too sure. I was into sciences while in school, and did very well in physio anatomy. I think maybe a physio therapist or something related.
Question: How did you get into wrestling?
Kaval: It was by chance. I was asked to go train at a school by my cousin , who wrestles under the name “Monsta Mack”. We had always wanted to wrestle but never had it available. When it was, we jumped at the chance to train at St. John The Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.
Question: Do you look at travel schedule in WWE more as a daily grind or an opportunity to visit and see new places? Is the travel the most difficult part of being in WWE?
Kaval: Never crosses my mind as a negative. This is the payoff for years of hard work. The travel is normally the hardest part to manage as it can take a higher toll on your body moreso than the wrestling, at times.
Question: Was there a special WWF / WWE wrestler you looked up to growing up?
Kaval: I didnt. I was a fan of the NWA because they had someone called “The Great Muta”. My style originated from his and you can see flashes of his influence in the Powerdrive Elbow and Tidal Krush attack.
Question: If you were to gun for the tag team gold in WWE, who would you like to team up with?
Kaval: Daniel Bryan. We may not be the same size as past champions , but I think we could compete as ferociously as Dr Death Steve Williams/ Terry Bam Bam Gordy or The Steiners.
Question: What title would you like to see yourself holding within your first couple years in WWE?
Kaval: First up , the Intercontinental Championship!
Question: What does your tattoo mean? Is it Kanji?
Kaval: It is kanji for “benkyo”, or “to study”
Question: Who inspired you to become a wrestler?
Kaval: “The Great Muta” in the National Wrestling Alliance.
Question: What are your favorite types of music?
Kaval: Always been into R&B, Hip Hop,Dancehall and Rap.
Question: Do you ever watch your matches and critique yourself?
Kaval: All the time, since Im a perfectionist. I dissect everything to improve.
Question: Weird thing that has ever happened to you in a match, or on tour?
Kaval: Gi pants tore wide open during a match, was rather breezy. Moving on!
Question: When your back home in NYC, what is your favorite spot (to hang, eat, chill etc.)?
Kaval: Im normally with my family since I dont see them often because of my Profession.
Question: Who is your closest friend in the locker room?
Kaval: Antonio Banks aka Montel Vontavious Porter aka Half Man Half Amazing aka MVP!

| He's not boring!!!! The questions that were picked were boring. Had they went with the questions I submitted this would have been a very different interview. | |
