| At one stage, we had Mickie, Beth and Michelle (Laycool) all on the same brand, producing high quality matches and fueds. Smackdown truly was the place to be for the divas. Even the casual involvement from Nattie at times, and Maria's on air personality in the fued really helped catapault it to new levels. Add in the rookie Tiffany, and we had a decent division.
First it was Mickie, then Maria, and the division just seemed lost and became less focused on. Mickie truly was the biggest star in the division, and it is therefore with great reason that the person holding the division together for the past four years since the departure of Trish and Lita would leave a hole in the division. A very big one.
Now we look at Smackdown, and we do see hope again, mainly because of the return of Beth. Kelly obviously has no place there. We have the Beth/Laycool fued continuing, which can only heighten the focus of the division again on Smackdown. However it just doesn't feel the same without Mickie, Maria or Tiffany- the first two especially. Although Maria wasn't too good, she was improving, and really became a gem in the ring. Aside from acelades and ring ability, Maria could be considered the top face of the company next to Mickie at that point. She could easily have been involved in more segments and fueds, as she was so decent on the mic and had such a superb character.
Currently we have Beth, Kaitlyn, Kelly and Rosa as the faces, and Laycool as the heels. Now I was never too good at maths, maybe Michelle could help me out here, but that is a rather uneven ration. Although Kaitlyn likely won't be getting into the ring anytime soon, it would be a good time for them to introduce Naomi as a heel/bitchy character. Rosa should just be fired period, and Gail should be moved over since she isn't doing anything anyway. | |
