Daniel Bryan Opposed To Cruiserweight Division In WWE

After paying his dues, competing for various independent professional wrestling promotions all over the globe, Bryan Danielson‘s unbelievable ability to perform inside the squared circle was sure to land him in one of the top sports entertainment companies eventually.

Now competing as Daniel Bryan for World Wrestling Entertainment as the reigning WWE United States Champion, Danielson definitely has made an impact for himself after debuting on the first season of WWE NXT as The Miz‘s rookie.

Although Bryan has definitely proved a lot of doubters wrong with his success with “The Worldwide Leader in Sports Entertainment” thus far, there are still some that believe Danielson will never break through the glass ceiling and become a legitimate top performer for the company due to his lack of size.

Some individuals around the Internet wrestling community ultimately believe he could really benefit from a cruiserweight division with the promotion, but Bryan seemed opposed to the idea in a recent online interview when pressed on the subject.

“I haven’t heard anything about bringing back the division or anything like that, and I’m thankful because that limits you a little bit,” Bryan Danielson told Jon Waldman, of SLAM! Wrestling. “I’d rather be able to wrestle everybody than just wrestle guys around my size.”

The idea has gained a lot of steam from speculators who believe WWE has plenty of talented performers that could be utilized terrifically in a cruiserweight division with smaller, high-flying competitors such as Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, and Evan Bourne throughout the roster.

However, that doesn’t mean that Bryan isn’t interested in competing with the likes of Kidd, who WWE has already teased an upcoming feud with on Monday Night RAW.

“I’d love to wrestle Tyson Kidd,” Bryan added. “We tag teamed in New Japan Pro Wrestling back in 2003 and I think we even did a singles match in Budokan Hall in Japan.”

Regardless of his look and size, “The American Dragon” has definitely become one of the biggest fan favorites in the company since returning to the company at SummerSlam back in August, as a member of Team WWE to help combat The Nexus.

I'll agree. He has better chances benefitting from no Cruiserweight Division because it would restrict him to just that part of the roster and others in similiar weight classes like Sydal/Bourne.

I'm not surprised. He's being given a push, so introducing te Cruiserweight Division will probably remove the possiblility of another push like this one.

LOL Those guys are so clueless. They're think of bringing back a CW division after they had one well established, and they killed it off for no reason?

I liked the division in WCW but in WWE it sucked.

There was much more flexibility during it's first run.

WWE don't care enough to run cruiserweight division.

WCW went and would sign guys from mexico,japan,canada,etc mainly to be in the division. WWE don't scout for divisions.

Tell me something I don't know.I'm not disagreeing with you... just saying that their little division a few years ago was better than it could possibly be now.

just depends I mean they are lazy to scout talent to make it good they would just bury a group of there wrestlers if they returned it now. Why you would see some good matches Hornswoggle would end up champion again probably.

IDK if they're lazy to scout. I think it's more that they have their ridiculous standards. There's so much emphasis on the entertainment that wrestling goes by the waist side.

Kaval is the perfect example of that: not a great entertainer, but one HELL of a wrestler.

Kaval might of benefited from cruiserweight division but he never would of been a higher up champion just like I doubt Daniels will ever be world champion.

At the end of the day you got to have great mic work to be world champion in wwe and sometimes even mid carder champion.

Kaval mic work ruined him.

Daniels is boring me as US champion.

I wish King Sheamus would win the title from him. I mean it's Sad Daniel only two good feuds been with the Miz and a announcer and since the miz feud ended he ain't had a good feud.

Sheamus doesn't need that belt. Him winning it is just an insult to his fans and his character. Who drops from 2-time WWE champion to US champion in months?

For reasons you just stated, Kaval and Bryan will probably have never become world champions. But, I'm not talking about being world champion.

Cruiserweights (than the rest of the guys), to a lesser degree need to be able to be silly and make people laugh in Vince's company.

I hate that idea. Personally I still think WWE should find good managers like they did with Bobby Hennan who could put over Kaval by hyping his skills. I mean he would of been getting a big push probably when they had all those managers cause they would probably set him up with like a Warrior gimmick.

Evan Bourne is injured, and they stopped his push after his feud with Jericho

I hate that part because there could be very good managers but they want them to wrestle and shit and that's the problem I think. I mean if they hire a manager they should be more focused on the character of the manager then the wrestling skills they have.

That's why Daivari failed with them. He's an incredible manager, but once he started wrestling he didn't nearly the same amount of heat.
