Maria Kanellis Speaks on Never Winning Gold in WWE

Former WWE Diva, Maria Kanellis — who will soon be touring with fellow former Divas, Jillian and Tiffany — commented on the fact that she had never won gold in the WWE.

Speaking to Final Bell Radio, she said:

Quote :: Definitely, it was so hard always being girl that got beat up but never got to win. I beat Michelle, I beat Melina, Mickie, Beth. I beat all these girls but never got the opportunity to get the title. That was hard because I could beat them, but I could never beat them for the title. Being there for that long and watching other people get the opportunity to get the title. I’m not stupid, I know I wasn’t the greatest in the ring, and I never looked the toughest in the ring but to hold the championship for one day or for half a show would have been awesome.

true she wasn't the best in the ring but she could have good matches on rare occasions. besides Maryse, Debra, The Kat, Sable etc all had runs with the belts. i'd like to have seen Maria win the Divas' belt if only briefly. at the time of her release she'd been there the longest out of all of them. she never really got to have a proper title match either

Those 4 ladies have what Maria never had, talent, so it's laughable for her to whine about not getting the title. That girl really does think she's something special. She was terrible in the ring and got what she deserved, nothing.

She was not great in the ring but at the end of 2008 she was having some decent matches with McCool/Maryse and I don't think I'd have minded if she won it from McCool and had it for 1 month or so to lose to Maryse.

Because in the grand scheme of things Maryse would have gotten injured and been out for a while as there was a time when there was no champ on SD due to Maryse's knee injury.

Maria could have had her little 4 week to 6 week title run and lost it to Maryse in a triple threat with McCool added.

But it isn't that big of a deal just something that looking back it could have made sense.

Maria was the biggest piece of shit with boobs.

Maria may not have deserved the title wrestling-wise, but personality and popularity rise she could've benefitted from a run, as could the division due to her ability to work an crowd. I used to be totally against Maria winning the title, but her promos prior to her release were just really damn good.

They might as well given it to her, they're all shit and so was she. It would've been fitting.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Maria with the title. Although, she was starting to turn into Torrie Wilson in a way, as Torrie was in WWE for many years and never won the title, I'm not sure if she even got a title match, but I may be wrong on that count.

I think the only one on one title match Torrie got was against Molly Holly in the summer of 2002 on SD.

Pretty sure she lost to the Molly Go Round.

I have that match taped on a VHS. :P

But I guess some battle royals count right? I know the Taboo Tuesday 2005 one was for the women's title but other than that I doubt she ever got a shot.

Wrestling wise no way should she have been champ. On the other hand, there's been other women who have been just as poor workers who have held it . Maria was over with the crowd and I agree she was doing pretty good promos towards the end of her run. I think she would have made a feasible underdog champ, but no great loss that she wasn't at the same time.

yeah Maryse had that belt way too long and she was one of the worst champions of the year. who else saw Maria's match with Natalya in late 2008? she looked like a pro in that and looked fine in her match with Michelle. if she had gotten a title reign and good people to work with then she probably would have put on some halfway decent matches. plus she was over and was pretty good on the mic towards the end

Maria wasn't that good on the mic and she was carried in every one of her matches.
