WWE Against Idea Of Connecticut Legalizing Mixed Martial Arts? Empty

It isn’t out of the ordinary anymore to see several online professional wrestling publications covering the world of mixed martial arts. Although there is one huge distinction between the two forms of entertainment, there is definitely a connection between the two with much of the fan base.

With Ultimate Fighting Championship events supposedly affecting pay-per-view buyrates for WWE, sometimes using one of their former superstars Brock Lesnar, it isn’t shocking that the company might oppose anything to further the sport.

Apparently “The Worldwide Leader in Sports Entertainment” might be trying to prevent the legalization of mixed martial arts in their home base state of Connecticut.

According to a report, from Daniela Altimari of The Courant, Representative Matthew Lesser recently introduced a bill to legalize MMA in Connecticut. In the bill he claims that World Wrestling Entertainment is opposed to the idea, which is apparently being denied by the promotion.

The report notes that WWE PR guru, Robert Zimmerman, issued a statement denying that the company was not opposed to the bill or anything else that “the state would like to do in regards to sports or entertainment.”

A public safety committee is scheduled to meet next Tuesday afternoon to discuss the idea.

It should be interesting to see if any more details of opposition of this bill indeed begin to surface as talks heat up about the idea of bringing mixed martial arts to Connecticut.

It doesn't seem like a coincidence that the WWE Headquarters are in Connecticut and they're opposed to the idea.
