| Night 1 - Spoiler:
Preshow-A-Go-Go: Dr. Keith is host once again. He welcomes out The Great Sasuke, who puts over his team and tells the fans not to miss this tournament. A video for Manami Toyota plays and then Sinn Bodhi comes out, talking bout cinnamon muffins, hating on UltraMantis Black and then saying something about bipolar disorder. NOT. SMART. Steve "The Turtle" Weiner is JACKED and his energy is absolutely infectious. They pimp the call-in line (609-473-0479) where you can talk to the stars of Chikara live during Night 1. Another video airs and Jakob Hammermeier comes out with Tursas and Delirious. He puts over Team BDK and then Tim Donst comes out to take over. He insults the fans and they leave. Next out live: The Colony! Scattered boos for the ants...because people are dumb. Green Ant takes the mic and cuts a very passionate promo and Keith stealthily plugs some of his own stuff. A "Turtle" chant breaks out! The Doctor recommends stealing a car! They plug the Night 2 Fan Conclave and Wiener says he's gonna be the man to slam Tursas. Another video airs and the camera is now on the ring. The entire locker room empties as they do a ten-bell salute to "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney. It's really power stuff; you could hear a pin drop in the Asylum Arena. A short but great Sweeney video airs on the big screen and the whole crowd chants for Sweeney. Not a dry eye in the house. Quack & Kingston are said to be very emotional. Hell, I'm choked up just watching it on a computer screen. I can see a lot of Sweeney shirts and purple arm bands, too. A final, amazing Trios hype video airs. Holy God. It's like the beginning of a movie! It honestly gave me chills. The show begins and the video's still on! Gavin Loudspeaker introduces the guys around the ring, gears us up for the first match and we hear Bouncing Souls! It's ˇ3.0LÉ! versus The Osirian Portal to open the show! The video finally ends about three minutes into the match. Awesome stuff.
1. King of Trios 1st Round Match: The Osirian Portal d. ˇ3.0LÉ! (18:12). A dance party breaks out. This...really shouldn't surprise you. The Portal win an incredibly fun match after they hit The Osirian Sacrament on Shane Matthews to advance in the tournament.
2. King of Trios 1st Round Match: F.I.S.T. d. Team Australia (11:13). Like a lot of groups in Chikara this year, F.I.S.T. has new, in-house produced music. Gearing up for TV? You betcha. Icarus has added more to the tattoo as well. Ick, G-Man & Chucky T advance after Gargano pins Tama Williams following a big triple team move.
3. King of Trios 1st Round Match: The Bruderschaft w/ Tursas d. Da Soul Touchaz (11:23). Jakob comes out first to introduce the rest of the team, and himself of course. Donst is out wearing a "C" on his shirt for Captain...or Cumbersome. Because he's fat. Tursas runs in and hits a crossbody on Acid Jaz, allowing Hammermeier to pin him for the victory.
4. King of Trios 1st Round Match: Joshi & The Luchadors d. The S.A.T. (10:11). Quack apparently did some dancing...which makes this must-see. Toyota, Quack & Jigsaw advanced in a really great match when Quack hit Larry Sweeney's '68 Comeback Special and Jigsaw hit a top-rope elbow drop on Wil Maximo for three. Gabe Sapolsky called the match "something special" live.
~ Intermission ~
5. King of Trios 1st Round Match: Team Dragon Gate d. The Spectral Envoy (14:34). The makeshift DG team gets the job done against Mantis, Wicked & Frights. Super Shisa pinned Frightmare with the Yoshi Tonic for the first real upset of the tournament!
6. King of Trios 1st Round Match: Team Osaka Pro d. The Throwbacks (17:04). Hilarious match that, for some reason, got a "Race of the Year" chant. Daisuke Harada ended up taking foul shots, too. Said to be the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling. Ultimate Spider catches Matt Classic with La Magistral to advance on to Night 2.
7. King of Trios 1st Round Match: The Colony d. The Dark Army (16:32). Rudo referee Derek Sabato is overseeing the contest, which is NOT good for the Ants, as he was the man that screwed them in the finals of last year's tournament. They persevere though and advance after Fire Ant pins Obariyon following the Ant Hill!
8. King of Trios 1st Round Match: Team Michinoku Pro d. Team Minnesota (22:51). Dueling "Mi-chi-no-ku" and "Mi-nne-so-ta" chants break out! Great Sasuke & Darin Corbin go slo-mo! SLO-MO! DREAMS DO COME TRUE! Togo pins Corbin with the top-rope senton for the win. The entire crowd stands and applauds Team M-Pro to end an incredible and emotional night of wrestling.
Night 2 - Spoiler:
Fan Conclave: At the Conclave, tons of fans lined up attempting to take the Bodyslam Tursas Challenge. None succeeded and Jakob Hammermeier was about to call it a day when Green Ant, dressed as '93-era Lex Luger, emerged. He actual got Tursas off his feet when Hammermeier hit a chop-block to the knee and Tursas splashed onto him! The rest of The Colony came to his aid afterwards. All the Japanese fly-ins were there, Stan Bush played live and a great time was had by all.
1. Open Challenge: Archibald Peck w/ Veronica d. Colt Cabana (9:13). Peck's entrance music is supposedly a marching band version of Journey's "Any Way You Want It", which makes him a winner. Archie gets an actual win in a fun match after a baton shot to Colt's cranium and a top rope diving headbutt. It's his first win in Chikara, too.
2. KOT Quarterfinal Match #1: F.I.S.T. d. Team Osaka Pro (19:15). This is a rematch of sorts from last year's tourney: Gargano replaces Gran Akuma and Spider replaces Tadasuke. Somehow, Gargano scuffed his hand pretty bad and is left with bloody knuckles. F.I.S.T. still manages to get it's win back from last year in a fantastic match, advancing to Night 3 after Chuck Taylor rolls up Spider with a handful of tights, which is the way Tadasuke pinned Talyor in last year's tourney!
3. RDV Eliminator #1: El Generico d. Pinkie Sanchez, Zack Sabre Jr. and Marshe Rockett (20:47). Sabato is out as the referee. Grrrr. He assists Pinkie Sanchez, allowing him to eliminate Rockett first with a flying DDT and then Sabre with a springboard seated splash. It comes down to Sanchez versus El Generico, and more shenanigans are afoot. However, Wink Vavasseur comes out and makes Sabato trade his BDK referee shirt for a Chikara one! The cheating neutralized, Generico pins Pinkie and goes to the finals after hitting his signature top rope brainbustaaahhh!!!
4. KOT Quarterfinal Match #2: The Osirian Portal d. Team Dragon Gate (21:08). Amasis, Ophidian & Hieracon move past Team DG to Night 3, staying undefeated as a trio! "The Funky Pharaoh" pinned Super Shisa with a 450 Splash for the victory.
~ A video plays for the Asylum Arena fans during intermission: The 12-man tournament for the Chikara Pro singles championship begins May 21 in Easton! AAAHHH!!!
5. Special Singles Match: Eddie Kingston d. Arik Cannon (7:12). "The War King" came out to "The Highwayman" by Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, apparently a favorite song of Larry Sweeney's. The match was super stiff. Like Portal/3.0LE involving dancing, this fact should NOT surprise you. Cannon hit Total Anarchy from the guardrail to the concrete floor! OUCH! King comes back and wins after hitting the Backfist and a Sliding D. Afterwards, a very emotional Kingston takes a Sweeney shirt and drapes it across the ropes in respect for his fallen friend.
6. KOT Quarterfinal Match #3: The Colony d. The Bruderschaft (13:05). After dressing up as C.Red last night, Jakob Hammermeier is "BDK Ant" tonight! Does his deviousness know no end! The match is grudge-riffic. Tursas tries to interfere, but Green Ant slams him! He puts Jakob in the Torture Rack! JAKOB TAPS! The Colony advances to Night 3 for the second-consecutive year!
7. RDV Eliminator #2: 1-2-3 Kid d. Frightmare, Obariyon and Amazing Red (16:29). 1-2-3 Kid went to do a crotch chop but the referee stopped him. We're family-friendly here, Kid! Obariyon takes out Amazing Red first with Deep Impact. Frightmare dispatches of Obariyon after a Kneecolepsy but falls to The Kid via a Top Rope X-Factor! Generico vs. 1-2-3 Kid in the RDV Finals tomorrow! Afterwards, Kid took to the mic and said he forgot about the PG thing for a second, thanking the fans for their support. The crowd really has been behind him the whole weekend and he seems genuinely touched by it.
8. KOT Quarterfinal Match #4: Team Michinoku Pro d. Joshi & The Luchadors (21:28). Quack came out to "Just a Hero," both his and Great Sasuke's old theme. Apparently, he is also wearing a sweet robe to the ring. Everyone's in red, too. Appropriately, The M-Pro comedy spot rears it's head during the match! Michinoku Pro wins what I'm told was a "surefire MOTYC", joining The Colony, F.I.S.T. and The Osirian Portal in tomorrow's semifinals! Sasuke pinned Quack after a crucifix powerbomb.
Night 3 - Spoiler:
1. KOT Semifinal Match #1: The Colony d. The Osirian Portal (16:01). The Colony becomes the first team to defeat The Osirian Portal after Soldier Ant plants Hieracon with a tope rope inverted TKO! Said to be an incredible match. The ants are Finals-bound for the second-consecutive year.
2. KOT Semifinal Match #2: F.I.S.T. d. Team Michinoku Pro (16:13). Derek Sabato is the referee. This obviously favored the Friends, who got the win after Taylor threw powder into Sasuke's eyes and Icarus rolled him up. The rivalry between F.I.S.T. & The Colony renews in the Finals of King of Trios!
3. Special Singles Match #1: Jigsaw d. Ultimate Spider Jr. (7:51). One half of the Campeones de Parejas gets the win after a brainbuster and a top rope double stomp.
4. 10-Team Tag Gauntlet: Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada win, earning a future tag title shot (39:53). Willie Richardson & Acid Jaz of Da Soul Touchaz faced Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin of Team Minnesota to start it off. Corbin tries more slo-mo, but Willie just Pounces the hell out of him! However, Cannon manages to get a cradle on "Da Bomb", eliminating Da Soul Touchaz and bringing out Obariyon & Kodama. Obariyon plants Corbin with Deep Impact for three and The Throwbacks come out next! The Batiri is disqualified after a low blow, giving Dasher Hatfield & Sugar Dunkerton three points. Sara Del Rey & Daizee Haze are out next and they best The 'Backs after Del Rey pins Hatfield, putting Sugar & Dasher back down to zero. Next team out: Matt Classic & Darkness Crabtree! They couldn't get on the same page though, and they were eliminated fairly quickly. The Roughnecks dispatch the ladies of the BDK after Grizzly Redwood pins Haze with his feet on the ropes and Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada of Osaka Pro enter the fray! They eliminate The 'Necks after a Kotoge Spanish Fly on Grizzly and 3.0 are out as the next-to-last team. Osaka eliminates them, too! They've got two points and KAGETORA & Super Shisa come out as the final team! Kotoge & Harada win, with Kotoge pinning Super Shisa! They have 3 points and are owed a future tag title shot! WOW!
~ Intermission ~
5. Special Singles Match #2: Manami Toyota d. Madison Eagles (11:37). Toyota drops Eagles on her head with a side suplex and pins her for the victory.
6. Open Challenge: Eddie Kingston d. Akira Tozawa (11:47). Kingston goes 2 for 2 on the weekend, putting down Tozawa with Backfist to the Future followed by a Backdrop Driver! Kingston has never lost a singles match at Trios. Impressive, but I think he's missing the point.
7. Rey de Voladores Finals: El Generico d. 1-2-3 Kid (17:47). It's the finals of a flyers tournament, so dives were aplenty! In a non-stop, action-packed contest, El Generico puts down 1-2-3 Kid with The Brainbustaaahhh! He is the King of the High-Flyers! Said to be the best match of the weekend. Waltman may have earned himself another booking or two after the superb weekend he had. He took the microphone afterwards and teased retiring, saying this was probably his last year in wrestling. You could hear the ENTIRE locker room applaud him as he went to back. Said to be an incredible scene.
~ As if that wasn't enough, the rumors are true: all three nights will be available for preorder in 24 hours! 24 HOURS! AAAHHH!!!
8. King of Trios 2011 Finals: The Colony d. F.I.S.T. (20:51). A year after they were absolutely robbed of the crown by the Bruderschaft, Fire Ant, Soldier Ant & Green Ant become the 2011 King of Trios after Green Ant pinned Icarus following the Super Mega Antapult Splash, now known as Splashapalooza I guess! F.I.S.T. targeted the surgically-repaired arm of Green Ant early on with a chair shot. Icarus got "Please Retire" chants. Fire Ant kicked out of an Omega Driver. Said to be very, very good. Many have called this the greatest King of Trios ever. Can't WAIT to buy these shows!
