Kevin’s Indy Spotlight: “Time for an elite all Women’s Wrestling promotion?”

After reading a great review on the new “Arena Chicks” DVD (You should get it, the matches seem totally worth it), I came to the conclusion, it is time that we have ourselves an elite all women’s wrestling promotion where, all female grapplers dream about wrestling at. Though there are wrestlers who work exclusively for Shimmer or WSU or Wrestlicious or Chickfight or JAPW and now Arena Chicks, at least 80% of the women in these company wrestle for the other women’s promotions as well. Not that it’s wrong but it will come to a point where there won’t be much difference in a Shimmer DVD and a WSU DVD because of the usage of the same women.

It isn’t always the case, that is true. BUT it would be nice if there was a company where all these women want to be like the WWE or TNA but, just for women. Shimmer was once considered that but with the amazing growth from WSU and the introduction of Wrestlicious it seems it’s not the same anymore. Of course we also don’t see names like Jazz or Angel Orsini or the Belle Saints in Shimmer, we don’t see MsChif on WSU either.

In the end I know there isn’t going to be a company with the financial benefits to sign women exclusively to them, not even TNA can manage to do so. Who knows, maybe in the future Shimmer and WSU could even have a little promotional war.

Even have cross promotion matches between, what I believe are the two biggest women’s wrestling promotion right now WSU and Shimmer, but most shimmer stars wrestle WSU so often, it never feels that way anymore.

We can hope for this and wish one day it is the case. But for now, it is nice to see the growth in amount of women’s wrestling promotion in north America and that well received by the audience.

What are your thoughts on this?
