Surely there must be some mistake? Isn’t that flick just an oft-seen
hallucination conjured up by our inner pot-smoker? I’m pretty sure Sam
Raimi had decided never to go back to the well, have Bruce Campbell
reprise his role as chainsaw wielding Ash in a fourth film, but instead
(aaargh) reboot the franchise? Right? Of course fans would rather see
an “Evil Dead 4″ with the original ‘Ash’, played by Campbell (just like
they’d have rathered to see a “Elm Street” movie with Robert Englund;
we all know what happened when was released and it didn’t star Mr
Englund!) than some glossy studio remake of
the low-budget indy original…
They do say they’re not positive whether this isn’t the “Evil Dead”
remake we’ve been hearing about for years but the fact that they’re
making something so, so, so low-budget (or that’s how it sounds) hints
that maybe the producers have come to their senses and decided that the
only “Evil Dead” movie worth making is one with Bruce Campbell.
Whatever the case, look what Dread Central are reporting today…Dread Central has it on good authority from a very reliable source that long-time Sam Raimi editor Bob Murawski (Army of Darkness; Spider-man, Drag me to Hell) has packed up and headed out to Detroit to begin work on the long talked about fourth entry into the Evil Dead franchise, which will be “a small indie thing like the first two.”
We’ll get you more details as they come, but it looks like this IS
happening. Will it be the fourth in the series? Will it be a remake?
Stay tuned. News is coming.
Update
According to Bruce Campbell’s official website, BruceCampbell.com, Bruce officially joined Twitter over the weekend (follow @GroovyBruce). On his Twitter site Bruce was questioned by a fan who stated, “I won’t believe in a new Evil Dead film until I see it. Or at least not until @GroovyBruce tells me to believe in it,” to which Campbell responded, “Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.” More as it comes.
Thoughts?
