It looks like the Xbox Live service may be coming with your next Windows OS.
Live has been successful on the Windows Phone. Live will be built
into the PC. It will be the service where you get your entertainment. We
were talking about it — you will not just see consoles and handhelds at
this show next year, this show’s going to morph into other devices.
Whether it's interaction with your friends list, browsing the Xbox
LIVE Marketplace, playing XBLA games or even, as rumours have stated,
being able to play Xbox360games on your PC, it's unknown. In fact, it's
not even confirmed if it is a reality, but comments made at E3, by Mike
Delman, have re-surfaced on various sites, with many forumites wondering
what will happen.
If this happens, what will happen to Games For Windows? Since the "G4W"
forums have moved to Xbox.com, is that a sign of a closure? Perhaps a
change of service? Maybe even running two online services for the PC?
It will be really interesting to see how they do this. I for one would
love to be able to play Xbox LIVE Arcade games on my PC. It's already
possible with the Windows Phone 7, so there is no saying what will
happen next.
