A new report claims that Farmville and Words with Friends creator Zynga was willing to pay even more.
Forbes has word from an inside source that Zynga bid a whopping $1 billion to purchase PopCap.
So why did PopCap go for the deal seemingly worth less money? Well, the
EA acquisition could actually net them more in the long run -- there's a
clause that could score those who sold PopCap another $550 million
based on the developer's performance over the next couple of years.
Zynga
and PopCap could have made for a casual/mobile/social developer
powerhouse, but it also seems like Zynga's corporate culture may not
have matched the more relaxed style of PopCap.
