WWE released monthly business figures on their corporate website Tuesday night with results through June 30 (the end of the second quarter). WWE will report official second quarter financial results on Thursday, August 4. The following are highlights of the monthly figures:
-- The Capitol Punishment PPV in June drew around 200,000 buys, according to a preliminary estimate. The official buy total will be released on Aug. 4. The prelim total is up from 143,000 buys for the one-and-done Fatal Four-Way PPV in June 2010.
Capitol Punishment is also up compared to the preceding PPV, Over the Limit in May 2011, which drew around 150,000 buys. WWE will report official buy totals for WrestleMania 28, Extreme Rules, Over the Limit, and Capitol Punishment on Aug. 4.
-- Domestic and international house show attendance was down compared to the 2009 and 2010 second quarters.
In 2011-Q2, WWE averaged 5,600 in attendance per event domestically, excluding the effect of WrestleMania. That compares to 5,800 people in 2010-Q2 and 7,200 people (excluding the effect of WrestleMania) in 2009-Q2.
International attendance was 6,600 fans per event in 2011-Q2. That compares to 8,200 fans per event in 2010-Q2 and 8,100 fans in 2009-Q2.
-- Home Video shipments were down 15 percent compared to the second quarter 2010. However, shipments were up 10 percent compared to second quarter 2009. Key sellers in the second quarter of this year included:
-WrestleMania 27 DVD: 203,000 units shipped -DX: One Last Stand: 111,000 units shipped -Best of Nitro: 96,000 units shipped
The DX DVD had a six-week lead on the Nitro DVD, which was released in June after the DX DVD was released at the end of April. ------------------------------- Did you order Capitol Punishment, buy any wwe dvds recently, and or attend any live events?
