Damian 666, whose real name is Jose Carrera, announced Saturday at a Perros del Mal event in Mexico that he would be retiring from professional wrestling. The 50-year-old lucha wrestler stated that since Supreme was not defending the XPW Championship, he was going to retire as he is suffering from numerous injuries and had nothing left to prove. The Perro family, however, convinced him to compete in a one final bout: an electrified cage match against Supreme for the XPW Championship. Damian said he has “several commitments” left to AAA and other promotions, but would retire following the cage match.
Carrera was one of the many luchadors brought to World Championship Wrestling in the fall of 1996 to bolster their cruiserweight division. He performed for the organization through 1999 as both Damian and Galaxy.
