Mickie James beat Winter last night on iMPACT! Wrestling to capture the TNA Women's Knockout Championship for the second time. It also marks as her eighth national title victory, breaking Trish Stratus' record of seven.

Yeah Mickie did break the record of US televised singles title wins [belts that have 100% to 99% female champions in their history]:
5x WWE Women's Champion 1x WWE Divas Champion 2x TNA Knockout Champion
8x overall singles champion which is a record.
I knew if anyone would beat Trish's record it would be Mickie!

It wasn't mean for Women's titles that were on National Television, The Hardcore Was and will never be a Women's title.
They can Call Mickie a 8 time women's chamionship holder, they can't call Trish that.
BUT agreed they are both refered as 8 time champions if seen like that. But i think they were refering to women's championship reigns.

There's also the question of "It's just TNA, so does it really count as a major promotion?"
And, if so, doesn't Kelly's TNA Immortal belt outrank the TNA Knockouts belt, since Sting held it?
Speaking of which, why do we never see Kelly defending the TNA Immortal Championship on Impact? I assume she defends it at house shows, but whenever we see her defend it on TV, it's at some other promotion. Sure, it's great to see cross promotion stuff, but it should be defended on it's own show once in a while.
And, when they have all that talent on the KO roster, what was TNA thinking giving the Immortal belt to Kelly? Damn Russo, Hogan, and Bischoff are ruining that company...

Stone Cold Steve Austin - 6 World Championships
The Rock - 9 World Championships
John Cena - 11 World Championships, and counting
Just to put things into perspective...
A TNA title is pretty much like an ECW title was in the 90s. Nice to have, but not the equal of the equivelent WWF and WCW titles. No one considered Taz's ECW Championship on the same level as Austin's WWF Championship. So, of the three current main holders of Women's title belts: Kelly Kelly, Mickie James, and Madison Eagles, the one holding the Championship with the most recognition and prestige is... Kelly Kelly, the least talented in every area of the three. But then, the Big Gold Belt was once held by David Arquette. Before any K2 fans get upset, Kelly is much more credible a Champion than David Arquette, and especially Miss Kitty.
Number of titles aren't what makes the GOAT, but being the top star will get you several of them.
Moolah was the Lou Thesz of Women's wrestling. Trish was the Rock, Lita the Mick Foley (Mick wasn't as big as the Rock, but was still hugely popular, and while he wasn't close to being the best wrestler there, was loved because of his charisma and high risk moves that often got him injured, so that's the best comparison for Lita, I think. Also, Mick's most memorable feud and tag team partner was the Rock, so that fits, too. Plus, Lita's title reigns tended to be about as long as Mick's), and Mickie the... Kurt Angle, maybe? But, only in accomplishments and popularity, not in attitude, as there is no bigger Diva in wrestling than Kurt Angle.
There's no John Cena of Women's wrestling, right now. Though, judging from the irritation here over Mickie holding the KO Championship again, if she was still in WWE and on her third run with the Butterfly Belt, she would be. The IWC would be all over her.

It wasn't easy for trish? She got 3 times as much title reigns as her peers who were there with her at the same time. Everyone was basically a transitional champion to Trish.
this far, only reign from Mickie that sucked, was her first reign, and that whole Melina-Victoria-Mickie houseshow mix up...which was pointless.
My only issue is she's dropped the title for stupid reasons. Like when she dropped the women's championship to Beth (never getting her rematch btw) just so beth could fued with the returning candice...and get this, even after losing the title, lost a nr. 1 contenders match to Candice....without getting her rematch..hilarious.

It really doesn't matter how many titles Mickie has tbh, she doesn't have the star power that Trish has and never will.
The way I see it, the only title that means something truly is the womens championship, which was held by legend Moolah and other greats back in the day.
Its like Dead's argument of saying the WWE ECW title is on the same level of the world titles. Whether or not that is true, its the same thing as comparing these titles with eachother. TNA Knockouts title has been around for 3 years, Divas title about the same. No prestige whatsoever.

Actually, except for the final one which was what they call a "Gold Watch", it was the other way around. Trish's and Molly's main jobs were to put over who was supposed to be the main Diva being built up. If it was a face Diva being built, Molly would have the belt, if it was a heel being built, Trish would have it. When Trish was heel, it was to build up Lita as the long term Champion. But, Lita tore her knee up, and that was that.
But, who is the biggest name comes down to the fans and who they support. They didn't like Victoria as the top babyface. They preferred Lita. They even liked a heel Trish as Champion more than a face Victoria. Ignoring fan response and keeping the belt on Victoria, regardless, wasn't going to change that.
Quote :

That was out of Creative's control, due to injuries. First, Trish gets injured, so Beth comes in. Then, Beth gets injured. Then Mickie, herself. So, she drops the belt to Lita, turning face in the process.

Blame Johnny Ace for that.
Trish and Lita had some influence backstage, and were able to prevent Ace from seeing his "vision" for the Divas through. Once they were gone, though... Instead of having Mickie vs Melina for Wrestlemania 23, we got Melina vs Ashley (that year's Playboy model). But hey, they could make it up to Mickie the next year, right? Nope, it's Melina and Beth vs Ace's Playboy models.
Eventually, it was Ace's Girls, all the time, skin and bone girls Ace found by flipping through swimsuit and lingerie catelogs. As a result, Mickie, who with Melina (speaking of wasted potential) had been the smallest, most petite girls competing for the Women's Championship in 2006, became "Piggy James" because she was built like a wrestler.
Despite Johnny Ace's worst efforts, though, Mickie is still the most popular woman wrestler in the business, today. Is she as big as Trish and Lita were? No, but she's got some good years left. There's still time.
Hopefully, things are changing, and we might see actual wrestler sized women holding the Diva's Championship, again. If so, hey... A good enough offer with a title run or two in the contract, and they could bring Mickie back to cement her legacy. How about Mickie James vs Sara Del Ray at Wrestlemania?
Or, on the off chance that TNA manages to turn things around and become genuinely viable... Tired of Mickie hogging the belt? Just wait 'til Melina gets there.

But, he's the reason the Women's Division at WWE is... what it is, today. He always had Vince's ear, which is why Punk made him a big promo target. He's the one who insisted that the skin and bone girls were the way to go.

People need to get their head out of their asses and face the facts.
Out of all the women's championships to be on national TV, as a whole Mickie has won more than Trish. Stop being poopheads and just accept.
If this was Victoria/Tara or Jacqueline or anyone who hasn't had a lucrative career in the WWE, you all would be sooo appriciative and be oh so greatful for them but this is Mickie, she had a lucrative WWE Career too.
So right your essey's why, say why the women's championship shouldn't be compared with the Knockouts title, end of the story is, if this was Gail, Tara or Jacqueline peoples opinion would be completely diffrent.
Because if Beth Phoenix was divas champion, and not Kelly Kelly, the Diva Title would have "meant something" but now because Kelly has it "Oh hell no, don't compare it to the women's title" while in prestigue, sure those titles are new compared to the women's championship, they all 3 have the same function, which is, to be the TOP Championship for Women, for a promotion that airs programing Nationwide.
And that's a FACT, not honnor, prestigue or legacy...it's a down to the core FACT.
Now Hataz, step aside and go Hate in a corner.

I don't have a problem with Mickie, and I've never belittled the knockouts title. The latter would be perceval's doing, and quite frankly, it gets on my nerves.
I was simply stating a fact, like how Roddy Piper didn't need to win the WWF title back then because the intercontinental championship was more prestigious than it is today.

If you could make a company that airs Nationwide, with paid workers and is known around the world that has a champiosnhip focussed on women, then you it could count as a championship with the same purpose as WWE's women's championship. Again i repeat

so because the KO title is in a company thats on tv, it can be on the same level as the womens title? get the fuck outta here, a championship being on tv means jack fucking shit, its the HISTORY of that said title that matters the most. there is the cold hard fact, you cant compare a championship of 3 years to one of over 30, regardless of whos holding it or it being on tv. im guessing this means the TNA TV title is on the same level as the WCW TV title was right? lol btw, just because Mickie James won 8 titles doesnt make her the best anyway, thats up for debate. time to get your head out of your ass and accept that, or am i being a jerk again :D

AGAIN, Like i said, not the same PRESTIGUE, not the same HONNOR, not the same LEGACY.
BUT they all serve the same purpose. They are from a a company known world wide, and like the Women's Championship the Knockouts championship will have it's own legacy, it's own honnors, it's own Prestigue, but they serve the same purpose that SAME women's championship was meant to do 30 years ago, LIKE the Divas Championship has been introduced as a replacement for the Women's Championship.
They SERVE the same purpose. and will have their eventual legacy. And that's what TNA has been doing the last 4 years and thus far the championship has remained as one of the top Women's Championships in the world, and also now with the Women's Championship completely gone and the Diva's championship only being recent. Doesn't th Knockout Championship hold the title as the most prestigious women's championship since you said it, you can't compare the Women's championship with a history of 30 with the history of 4 years of TNA's women's title....then you compare the 3 years of the Divas championship with the 4 of the knockouts title.
I'm just laying out the fact and well.....saying it how it is. With the Women's title defuct, the Knockouts title is at the top of the foodchain. Since you wanna talk about Legacy, years, blah blah blah.
And honestly i could care less about Mickie, it's the Trish is the goddess and can't be overthrown followers who's making a big fus and escuses why "Mickie didn't beat Trish" while...she clearly did.

Seems people can't seem to feel Trish got overthrown at something.
Mickie is never going to be the name Trish was, it's a fact, but fact is she hd more womens championship reigns than Trish, its a fact, doesn't makeher better, legendery or aything, it just means she had more opportunities and reigns.....is all.
But not even that people can understand. It's not only here though, its in general.

I couldnt give a fuck whether Trish gets overthrown or not...i simply pointed out that she was also an 8 time champion....and since the opening post made no reference to it only being womens only titles I had every right to make the post on the contray.
I would hardly call it me trying to make excuses for Trish. So my name shall be taken from that list

lol, for whatever reason, i sense a LOT of Trish hate, which is why her followers are being shit on. who the fuck cares what her followers say? if it was Lita that Mickie past, no one would be bitching about what her fanbase said, but since its Trish "OMG HER FOLLOWERS CANT ACCEPT ANY FACTS ETC, TRISH WAS OVERTHROWN BAH GAWD". its NOBODY ELSES FAULT Trish was the BEST of her decade so theres some kind of standard (Lita was a spotmonkey, she doesnt count), and Trish will never be overthrown as the best diva to come along in the past 10 years until both WWE and TNA decide to step up their womens division

Well...
If the criteria is just being a nationally televised promotion, and it doesn't matter if said promotion is on the level of WWE or WCW, then Mickie still has a ways to go for the record. Because then, you have to count the USWA and UWF. What were those, you may be asking?
The USWA was a nationally broadcast promotion led by TNA co-founder Jerry Jerrett in the 80s and 90s, with Jerry Lawler as it's top star. It was the #3 promotion in the country until it fell victim to the Monday Night Wars and ECW replaced it. They did weekly shows at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, which held 10,000 people. Compare to the 1500 capacity ECW Arena and the 1400 capacity Impact Zone. TNA is the lesser Jerry Jerrett created promotion. That's also why Lawler was so dismissive of ECW's "bingo hall."
The UWF wasn't nearly as big, but it was nationally televised, so it counts. With that established...
Jacqueline Moore...
USWA Women's Championships: 8 UWF Women's Championships: 1 WWF Women's Championships: 2 WWE Cruiserweight Championships: 1
So, Mickie needs 3 more singles titles specific for women to tie Jacqueline, and 4 more overall.

AGain, never said she was better than Trish, never said so, never asumed so.
I may hate Trish because everyone says she's this great wrestler, blah blah blah. I never thought she was a great wrestler. She was good in the ring, but a tremendous entertainer.
But that's about it.
But whatever dude. In the word of Sticky "You only believe it's true, only when you like it"

Wow this thread sure grew last time I was in it!
I love Trish and Mickie [they are # 2 and # 3 of my all time fav women wrestlers] so I don't mind Mickie getting more belts than Trish.
Who really cares if Trish was beat on that record she still has some so imo it is nice for them each to have a couple records.

Except (And remember, huge Mickie mark here, she's my favorite currently active woman wrestler) Mickie doesn't actually have the record, due to Jacqueline's 11 Women's Championships and 12 Championships overall.
I love Mickie, but Moore has More.

If Mickie had 8 womens title reigns, fine, but she had 5, 1 Divas and 2 KO.
I consider 2 knockout/diva championships to be equivalent to ONE womens title reign.
Therefore
Mickie is a 6 time womens champion
Victoria is a 4 time womens champion
Michelle is a 3 time womens champion
Maryse is a 1 time womens champion
Angelina is a 2 time womens champion
What I'm trying to get at, is that a thriving division with Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Benoit, Angle, Undertaker is more credible and meaningful to be champion than of a division with Swagger, Ziggler, Miz & Alex Riley.
And technically, Moolah has 8 reigns as well, so she is equal (if we can count Mickie's stupid reign at the houseshow, we can count Moolah's hidden reigns).

regardless of the ethics behind Mollahs hidden reigns. We can't accept them. Because no matter how pointless the house show reign it was still legitismised
