TNA house show report November 4, 2011 Battle Creek, Mich. at Kellogg Arena Report by Zachary Ellsworth, PWTorch reader
James Storm kicked off the event with a promo, asking if there were any beer drinkers in the arena, and told everyone you can find him at the bar down the street after the show.
(1) X Division champion Austin Aries beat Jesse Sorensen to retain the X Division Title. Very solid match for the opening match. Lots of back and forth action. Aries is one hell of a worker.
Earl Hebner got his own entrance prior to the next match and Jeremy Borash introduced him as "the most infamous referee in professional wrestling."
(2) Knockouts champion Velvet Sky beat ODB to retain the KO Title. Everyone loved Velvet Sky. Solid match.
(3) James Storm beat Magnus. James Storm said last week he suffered a concussion, and will most likely be out of action for a few weeks. So, this was not much of a match. Storm caught Magnus off-guard with a superkick faster than he beat Kurt Angle.
(4) Mr. Anderson beat Abyss via DQ. Pretty funny entrance for Anderson. Since there was no microphone to drop from the ceiling, Jeremy Borash stood on a chair and held a microphone over Anderson so he could do his introduction. "Let’s Go A-hole" chant by the crowd when the match started. Abyss worked as a heel here, which I found strange because I thought he was turning face after being kicked out of Immortal. Abyss hit Anderson with a chair to be disqualified.
After intermission, Ric Flair came out to a huge ovation. He grabbed a microphone and said he works his ass off every Thursday night for us to hate him, yet we still give him all the respect in the world. He thanked everyone for coming out.
(5) A.J. Styles beat Gunner. Very solid back and forth match that went about 13 minutes.
Next was the main event of Bully Ray and Scott Steiner vs. Jeff Hardy and RVD. RVD came out to a massive hometown pop and stood in the ring for a few minutes soaking up the ovation.
(6) Rob Van Dam & Jeff Hardy beat Bully Ray & Scott Steiner. This was an awesome match that was somewhere between 15-20 minutes. RVD got the pin after a Five Star frogsplash.
I found it strange that that Jeff Jarrett was advertised for the show, yet he was nowhere to be seen. I was also surprised that Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray, and Scott Steiner were not advertised for the show. -------------------------------- What do you think of this house show?
