Taylor Swift won all three of her bids at this year's 39th annual American Music Awards including the big prize of Artist of the Year as well as Favorite Country Album ("Speak Now") and Favorite Country Female Artist. These victories are in marked contrast to a year ago when Swift did not even contend for Artist of the Year and won only the country crooner prize. In 2009, she had been the queen of the AMAs, taking home five awards include Artist of the Year and three singing races (country, pop and adult contemporary).

Among those Swift edged out for the top award was the absent Adele, who had led with four bids. The ailing British singer-songwriter did prevail in her other three races -- Favorite Female Pop Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album ("21").

Nicki Minaj, who kicked off the performance-packed show, won both her categories -- Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for "Pink Friday."

Beyonce won a bookend to her 2009 award for Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist while Usher now has a third Favorite Male Soul/R&B award to go with those he won last year and in 2004. Rihanna claimed Favorite Soul/R&B album for "Loud"

Lady Antebellum repeated as Favorite Country Duo/Group while Blake Shelton won his first Favorite Male Country Artist.

Adam Levine, Shelton's fellow judge from "The Voice," and his band Maroon 5 won their first Favorite Pop/Rock Duo/Group award. And Bruno Mars won his first Favorite Male Pop/Rock Artist edging out last year's big winner Justin Bieber.

What do you think of the winners?

Congrats to the winners, i liked some of the preformances.

I didn't care for most of the performances but I was so happy Adele won 3 awards [damn Swift for blocking her sweep..] but still 3 is awesome when I was only expecting 1. I guess Gaga/Perry fans are not as active as I thought they would be.

I was also so surprised Bieber lose to Bruno Mars! It was a very happy surprise though because I really like Bruno and Bieber wins tons of awards imo he doesn't deserve.

Big congrats to Nicki Minaj as well for winning 2. I wonder if Tank knows she won..?

That was awesome that she won 3 awards. I was surprised he won too but it was nice to see him win it. He might know.
