Report: Former Women’s Champion Returning to WWE?

A new rumor suggests that a former WWE Women’s Champion may be returning to the company for a new storyline.

F4WOnline (via Lords of Pain) reports that WWE is close to bringing a name from the past to feud with current Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

However, it’s unknown who the Diva in question may be.

Thoughts: Bear in mind, this is all speculation and rumor for now. If indeed true, who could it be? Trish Stratus seems almost too likely considering she has already returned and done the WrestleMania thing. Recently retired Michelle McCool, perhaps? Personally, I’d love to see Lita back, and she did tweet today that she was filming an interview with WWE.

My own thoughts... if Trish & Lita do something, it'd be as a unit and, since Beth & Nattie have been publicly lobbying for something with them for months, a WM match would have already been in the planning stages. This sounds like a very recent development.

Mark Henry tweeted that they're talking with Ivory. And, speaking of recent developments, Jacqueline just became available. On the Raw Afterbuzz show on Monday, when asked if she or Lita would consider being trainers/agents for the Divas, she said neither of them would have the time.

But, wouldn't being a trainer/agent full time for WWE be the perfect job for Jackie?

Some are speculating that, with Layla's impending return, it could be McCool.

Layla wouldn't qualify as "returning to the company." She never left the company. She's just been out with an injury. Her former tag partner on the other hand...

It could play off that bit on the website where Alicia is talking to someone on the phone. It would, of course, be Layla. She seems to be on their side during an in ring promo with them... until she tells Alicia that she's good, but not flawless...

Although I would like to see Michelle McCool come back, I think it is too soon for her to come back as a face. When she left she was such a mean/hateful heel, it would be really awkward to see her come back to take on Beth/Nattie in the face role.

I would LOVE to see Ivory come back, but she doesn't really make any sense either. Why would a "wrestler" come back to fight the "wrestlers" who don't like the "models".

Given Chyna's recent attempt at coming back to the WWE and them rejecting her, I don't think she is returning either.

I could see it being someone like Candice or Sable as they were more the model type, but I don't really know what either of them are doing now.

I think Trish is, unfortunately, the most plausible. I would really like to see someone else come back to have some of the former diva spotlight, but WWE seems to really be stuck on Trish.

Doubt it's Layla or Trish. Wouldn't object to Lita or McCool. If it is between those two, I'd rather it be Lita.

Well this is a rumor so I don't want to get too excited because if it turns out to be true I will be so happy.

Especially if it is Lita or McCool coming back.

I'd be happy with Ivory and Jacqueline as well but they don't make much sense like Scott said. :-/

I don't want to see Candice back and don't really care for Sable although if she came that would probably help to get Brock back but I still think her coming back is very unlikely.

Trish, Lita, or McCool are the top 3 imo.

I would love it if it was Candice or sable but I doubt it! I personally think it is Layla returning back from injury!
