Tribute to the Troops TV Ratings Are in, Comparison to 2010 Special on USA Network Troops_130_1

WWE's Tribute to the Troops special Tuesday, December 13 on USA Network scored a 1.93 rating. This compares to a 2.00 rating for the same special on a Wednesday night in December last year.

This year's version averaged 2.77 million viewers off a first hour average of 2.75 million viewers and second hour 2.78 million viewers. It was the first time in two months a WWE show on USA Network saw viewership increase in the second hour.

By comparison, last year's special averaged 3.01 million viewers off a first hour average of 3.03 million viewers and second hour average of 2.99 million viewers.

This year's Troops special ranked #8 on cable TV Tuesday night, #5 among males 18-34, #4 among males 18-49, #4 among males 12-34, and #2 among males 12-17, trailing Cartoon Network programming. The first hour ranked #1 in teen males.

Removing strong cable TV competition from the mix on a Tuesday vs. a Monday, WWE's demo ratings increased in the second hour, reversing a recent trend for Raw, which has been hit hard in the second hour during the fall season.

Also worth noting is how WWE's special fared against USA Network programming last Tuesday. A 9:00 p.m. EST airing of NCIS averaged 3.18 million viewers last Tuesday and a 10:00 p.m. airing of "Covert Affairs" averaged 3.20 million viewers. Troops was down about 13 percent in viewers, but WWE made up for it with a 40 percent increase in key male demographics.
