| Subject: Mark Henry Injured and How it Affected WWE's Decision-Making at TLC Mon 19 Dec 2011, 7:43 pm | |

Former World Hvt. champion Mark Henry is suffering from a groin injury, reports Prowrestling.net. It led to WWE switching the World Title initially to Big Show, then to Daniel Bryan at the TLC PPV Sunday.
Henry, who has been working with a fictional ankle injury over the last month, was initially diagnosed with groin pull. However, additional testing suggested Henry's injury was worse than originally believed, reports Dot Net. It led to a decision made to switch the title rather than waiting out the injury to see if Henry could heal.
It also explains why the Henry vs. Show title match only went six minutes and mainly featured stalling and basic sequences using the chairs. There was also the post-match spot where Henry appeared to be setting up Show for a suplex into a pile of chairs, but opted for a simpler DDT to knock out Show, leading to Bryan's cash-in.
Caldwell's Analysis: It wasn't the ideal way to end Henry's strong title reign during Smackdown's best, most consistent run on Syfy. Bryan's victory also turned the Smackdown title picture upside down with numerous ways they could go with Bryan as champion and numerous title contenders. It also gives Henry a re-match opportunity against Bryan down the line when Henry is healed. | |
