Vin Diesel has confirmed what – stuntman Mike Gunter told me last week, actually (that chat is coming soon) – most of us already knew, the sixth and seventh “Fast and Furious” movies will be shot back-to-back.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the bald and brawny petrolhead said he and director Justin Lin realized they’d need a seventh “Fast and Furious” movie to tie up the storyline of the sixth; the next picture would’ve been crammed with too many narrow turns and potholes it seems.
With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space…We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages,” Diesel explained. “The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!
Diesel didn’t confirm whether or not the next two movies will be stand-alone films or be two-parters (he also didn’t confirm whether or not Eva Mendes and Michelle Rodriguez would return, as was teased at the end of “Fast and Furious 5″).
