| Subject: Impact Wrestling Ratings Are in for 12/22 Show - TNA Takes a Holiday Hit Sat 24 Dec 2011, 8:40 am | |

TNA Impact Wrestling on Thursday, December 22 scored a 1.03 rating, down from a 1.14 rating last week for the show after TNA's Final Resolution PPV. Impact was also down from a 1.07 rating two weeks ago for the episode leading into Final Resolution.
On the holiday week, it was the lowest Impact rating since the Thanksgiving episode, which scored a 0.99 rating, and the lowest non-holiday rating since the beginning of October.
Impact averaged 1.36 million viewers, down 18 percent compared to last week, and the fewest viewers in over three months dating back to the same average on September 8.
-- Impact scored its lowest males 18-49 rating since early September and Impact scored its lowest males 18-34 and males 12-17 ratings since Thanksgiving and early October.
On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #41 in overall viewers, #33 in m18-34, and #21 in m18-49, trailing NFL Network's five million viewers for the Texans-Colts and TruTV's entire line-up of male-oriented prime-time programming.
-- In comparison to the same week last year, the Dec. 23, 2010 episode scored a 1.08 rating and averaged 1.40 million viewers. TNA did not have a Christmas Week episode in 2009 leading into their big January 4, 2010 live episode.
On Christmas Day 2008, Impact scored a 1.10 rating and averaged 1.40 million viewers. In 2007, Christmas fell in-between the Dec. 20 and Dec. 27 episodes, which averaged a 1.08 rating and 1.50 million viewers.
Caldwell's Analysis: The rating was expected to take a hit due to the holiday week and no main event advertised in-advance on last week's Impact episode. But, the overall doesn't compare favorably to past holiday week episodes from 2007-2010. TNA is also in a transition with the "homegrown stars" being featured more prominently than the 1990s stars at this point, which will take some time for the audience to fully accept. | |
