Conference Call Report - WWE Management Grilled on WWE Network Vagueness

One of the two big stories coming out of WWE's quarterly conference call with investors is WWE remaining vague about the latest WWE Network plans, even after being grilled by investors and analysts seeking answers on a project WWE is budgeting for $35-50 million in 2012.

Asked about a potential launch date, WWE CEO Vince McMahon said, "Launch sometime this year. No specific date." McMahon added that WWE is negotiating with cable systems and they "want to get it right when we launch."

Asked about having a potential major cable partner to launch with, McMahon said it's "very important" they have a major partner and they will launch the Network "in one form or another" this year.

Asked if WWE is seeking high-level external hires to help launch and run the Network, WWE CFO George Barrios said they are pursuing executives, and they have a detailed plan of what they need to launch, but they are not in a position to disclose the plans.

Finally, Barrios said WWE is not going to comment on the business model, which he said they have outlined, but they hope to disclose more content details soon. This was in response to a question on WWE claiming in the conference call three months ago that they would have a "big announcement" on firm Network plans.

hopefully they release something soon.

This isn't very good news imo..

I am looking forward to the WWE Network but that is assuming my cable provider will carry it..

If not then that would really suck.
