Maryse Lashes Out On Use Of Divas

Maryse was recently on the Running the Ropes radio show, discussing the WWE Divas, here is what she had to say… "You know it's changed from what it was in 2007 when it had twelve minute pay-per-view matches now to thirty second (matches). It's hard to make a crowd relate to you when you can't talk on the microphone, you have only a minute in the ring and you have ten divas in the ring at the same time so you can't build a character and you can't make people relate. It's impossible to get over. I just wish the girls were given more time to work because there is potential, but there's no time. They need to give them something so they (WWE) can receive something and if they don't, they will never get anything.

this has always been the biggest problem for the divas. A lot of the less diva fans who like a broken record keep saying "if they got better wrestlers the fans would care". No they wouldn't because if they have better wrestlers, they still are going to have 1-2 minute matches, which as Maryse points out makes it difficult to get over, when you have to sprint to the ring, hit the signatures and then sprint back out of it.

Look how over the Funkasaurus is, and his matches are only like a minute, with his entrance being another minute.

yet he's still given a character. his matches might be short but look at his entrance. it's a big spectacle with a routine and it gets the crowd involved. no one wants to see Brodus wrestle, they want to see the dancing and hear the theme song

Brodus gets more time than any of the Divas. Eve is over as a heel because the writers actually invested time in her. she got time to cut promos and an actual storyline

I'll stick to what Sunny said a few years back...Fire half the girls and start from scratch.

There are WAY to many women, way to little screen time. Stick to 6 to 8 and work with those 6/8 and branch out from there. They got 14 women on the roster and they rarely take up 15 minutes of WWE's 6 hours of programming....that's little more than a minute for each diva basically....now if they fired a few.....they might make room

Maybe WWE should starting using some as ring girls, especially the ones who can't wrestle and are just there to look pretty.

It would give them recognition, and it would make a match seem more an actual combat sport.

Besides that, there would be no training necessary to hold a ring card up.
