Battle: Los Angeles Empty
PostSubject: Battle: Los Angeles   Battle: Los Angeles EmptyWed 21 Mar 2012, 8:45 pm

I just finished playing this game, and thought I'd give a quick review.

The graphics on this game are amazing, really realistic. The aliens are virtually identical to their film counterparts and all the main characters from the film are featured in the game as well. Gameplay is really good too and the plot is again, virtually identical to the film.

Sounds like a good game right?

Wrong!

The entire story covers two missions. Yes, thats right, just two. They took me 35 minutes each. Thats right, I finished the whole game, in a meager 70 minutes. Now I don't know about you, but when you expect to spend several hours working your way through a game, you don't expect to be done in just over a single hour.

Whats more, is theres only three different types of enemies you get to face. Countless normal aliens, three aliens hiding behind turrets and a few alien aircraft. Not exactly a wide spectrum.

I expected more from this game, as initial playtime suggested it would turn out to be a great game. It had the potential to be great, and to expand on the storyline from the film. The developers missed a trick though, creating it disappointingly short and as a result, infuriating too.

I paid £7.99 on Steam for it, it should have cost £2.50 at most because of how long it was.

So yeah, majorly disappointed, kinda want my money back.

Now you know how the people who saw the movie felt.

I saw the film yesterday after I posted this. There was a lot more they could have done to the game to expand it, whilst following the events of the film. The film spent 15 minutes in the police station, the game spent a 30 second cutscene. Thats just one example.

There were at least two more types of aliens in the film than the game as well. The game was poorly thought out and rushed.

Well it was probably just made to capitalize off of all the marketing for the movie, and make a quick $. Most games based on movies are terrible and are just there to take your money and run.

There are exceptions, but it isn't the norm.

I wasn't expecting it to be great, but I didn't expect to be so bad.

This whole topic is basically my rant on how annoying the game was.
