Layla returns to the ring

Former WWE Women’s Champion Layla returned to the ring last night at a Florida Championship Wrestling live event.

The Diva has been sidelined since May 2011 with a torn ACL and torn MCL.

Layla teamed with Audrey Marie to defeat Sofia Cortez and Paige.

Usually, main roster talent will work with FCW when they are on the cusp of returning from injury. As Layla has now had her first live match back, her WWE television return shouldn’t be far behind.

As reported earlier, former Women’s Champion Layla returned to the ring last night at FCW, her first live match since her ACL and MCL tear last year.

PWInsider reports that Layla was receiving “high marks” for her performance last night and that she has worked hard in the past few weeks to shake off ring rust.

The report notes that Layla showed off some new lucha-style moves, which should step up her game upon her eventual TV return.

Hopefully Layla will be back following WrestleMania.

Now obviously with me I am extactic to see her return, and am curious to see these new Lucha style moves. Hopefully she will be stronger then ever now.

As for returning after mania...Since it is in Miami Florida Layla's hometown I do think she should interfere in the match or save Kelly/Maria from a beatdown...which could set up the Layla/Beth fued WWE planned for her return.

I'M HAPPY! Hopefully she's gotten better than what she was was, I wanna see her new style in action.

by the looks of it, they'll be going with the Beth/Natalya program after WrestleMania and Layla will likely feud with Eve

Yeah I wanna see a Layla vs eve first why rush her to a divas championship shot.

Believe it or not, I think Layla is going to be built as the focal point of the division soon, like Trish was. Layla has been with the WWE the longest (since 2005/6) if we count Beth's big absense in 2005. Although we had Layla haters, she wasn't bad in the ring she had improved a lot.

She is the only diva on the roster now other than Beth (the top heel diva) to hold the womens title. She is also the last womens champion ever, which is something big. Before she was injured, she had clean wins over Alicia, Melina, etc and was pushed on the level of Eve/Kelly in Laycool, though obviously was overshadowed by McCool. She can use defeating Michelle and retiring her as a big push for her, as she took out the top diva at that time.
