WWE issued a press release Monday officially acknowledging a new partnership with Full Sail University to shift NXT TV tapings to the Florida college. WWE, which confirmed the NXT show will continue to air on their website, also announced a scholarship program for Full Sail students.
The partnership benefits WWE to use students to help produce the NXT shows. The program benefits Full Sail due to "all proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales" at the NXT tapings going towards a "scholarship fund for students enrolled at or planning to attend Full Sail University."
WWE will be looking to use students in the area of "Film, Show Production, Digital Arts and Design, Internet Marketing, and Entertainment Business" to work on the NXT show. WWE stressed this aspect in the press release.
Included was a statement attributed to wrestler/executive Triple H: "WWE has always been a leader in creating Superstars in front of the camera. Now, with this unique partnership with Full Sail University, WWE will develop stars behind the camera as well. With the opportunity to host events at Full Sail's top-notch facilities and the chance to tap into Full Sail's greatest resource, its students, we are excited to provide real-world experience while giving us a fresh, creative perspective from ambitious students."
The first NXT taping is scheduled for this Thursday, May 17 with an advertised appearance by Triple H and two title matches - Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Title and Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. Primo & Epico for the WWE Tag Titles. | |
