Mixed Tag Match Announced for Next Week’s SmackDown

Divas Champion Layla and Aksana are set to face off in a mixed tag team match on next week’s live episode of SmackDown.

After Teddy Long revealed himself to be the guest General Manager for Raw and SmackDown next week, the former SmackDown GM — who was jilted by Aksana after he lost his position of power at WrestleMania — booked Aksana and her new man, Antonio Cesaro, in a match against Layla and The Great Khali.

The match will air on a special live edition of SmackDown on Tuesday, July 5th at 8pm on Syfy.

The episode will have a Great American Bash theme.

Did anyone notice how WWE changed Layla's theme to Insatiable (Tiffany's old theme)?

Doesn't fit her at all. smh...

^ Yeah it was changed the Raw when she introduced Wendi and Cyndi [just didn't play on tv then]..

I think the match is overall a good thing but there is one clear bad part...

Good parts are that they actually announced a match involving the divas ahead of time for a non PPV! Also it involves Layla and finally Aksana can hopefully show case herself in a positive light on tv. I am also a fan of Antonio Cesaro and he has been MIA from SD action for far too long!

The obvious bad part is that Layla has to team with Khali...

Would have been a much better match had she teamed with someone exciting like Gabriel or Kidd; hell even Sin Cara [who has also been MIA..].

well her teaming with Khali could have the same effect of Beth teaming with Ricardo - the girls get to work most of the match. they'll likely be involved in the finish anyway. i want to see Aksana get a shot at the title. she is a much better wrestler when she is a heel and she's able to carry the greener girls down in FCW through their matches so a title match with Layla could go quite well. obviously this would be a mini-feud for Money In The Bank so obviously Aksana wouldn't win the title. they've run out of heels for Layla to face and AJ's tied up with the WWE title match so at least it'd be a fresh match

Very true.

I wouldn't mind Antonio distracting Layla somehow and then Aksana either rolls her up [could also have tights/ropes] or just hits her finisher on her to get a more shocking convincing win.

Either way she should pin Layla and then get a title shot [where Layla would beat her].

If this idea does happen then it would be nice to see however sad that they decided to give Aksana a singles one on one title shot before Natalya!

I agree the theme song doesnt not fit her at all. It is possible Aksana will get a shot at the title.

i think Natalya is in an angle on NXT with Sofia Cortez or will be in the next few weeks. they're in a match on one of the episodes and Natalya refuses to start it so it looks like there will be some storyline with her

i hope Aksana does get time to show off how good a wrestler she is. that match she had with Maxine on Superstars was good enough except for her not knowing how to be a face
