Breck Eisner, director of the shamefully underrated “The Crazies”, has gotten his hands on a squishy bit of plastic man.

The son of ex-Disney champ Michael Eisner is attached to direct the long-gestating feature film adaptation of “Stretch Armstrong”. Taylor Lautner was initially attached to play the lead role in the Hasbro-produced tentpole, with Rob Letterman helming. Lautner left with Letterman, and the project consequently went away… for a while.

The new incarnation of “Stretch Armstrong” – originally set up at Universal – is swimming in its rebirth juices at Relativity, where Eisner will direct a script by “Tomb Raider 2″ scribe Dean Georgaris.

The Hollywood Reporter says Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh, Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schnier are producing, and Relativity’s Tucker Tooley is exec producing.

While it’s possible Lautner may indeed end up playing Stretch for Eisner, there’s no offers, deals or bananas on the table to entice anyone to make their Arms Strong at present. Eisner has had many projects come and go from his grasp, including the remake of “Escape from New York”, so let’s not consider this a definite happening just yet.
